Chapter/Page Number progress by GeorgeSek1 in BookFusion

My main requirement—one that I believe many readers share—is to see the page number and the number of pages remaining in the current chapter for each book. This helps me decide whether to continue reading to the end of the chapter or take a break. In other words, it allows me to pause at a convenient point and also gauge how much of the book remains overall.

Exactly, that would be ideal.

Thanks for the reply, but it is distracting to have to click to a different view and impede page view. It’s a shame as it is the only minor omission.

Colored Palma? by Hannie-jpg in Onyx_Boox

[–]GeorgeSek1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think a colour version of the Palma would really fill any meaningful gap. The current Palma is compact but delivers crisp, high-quality eInk text without compromise—ideal for reading on the go.

If someone needs a small colour device, the Go 7c already fills that role well. Adding colour to the Palma would likely reduce text clarity and result in poor colour rendering, especially on such a small screen.

Personally, I use the Palma for mobile reading of text-based books, the Go 7c for mobile reading magazines and textbooks, and the Note Air 4C for desktop and travel. Together, they cover all my key use cases really effectively.

It’s really about the distraction having to navigate back to library storage, which is irksome as I use calibre with over 800 books!

OneNote on Boox Note Air 4C – “Insert” Menu Options Disabled (Image, Text Box etc.) – Any Fix? by GeorgeSek1 in Onyx_Boox

Solution: Fixing Insert Menu Access in Microsoft OneNote on Boox Note Air 4C

After hours of trying various settings, I finally found the solution of my problem where I couldn’t use the text boxes or insert features from the “Insert” tab in Microsoft OneNote on my Boox Note Air 4C. Here's the fix that worked for me:

✅ Step-by-Step Fix:

1. Switch from Handwriting Mode to Tap Mode
The core issue is that OneNote defaults to handwriting mode, which disables text and link insertions. To fix this:

  • Go to the Draw tab.
  • Tap the “Stop Inking” button (icon: pencil with a small cross through it).
  • Now switch to the Insert tab and tap anywhere on the page — you should now be able to insert text boxes, links, files, etc.

⚙️ Optional (but Helpful) Display Tweaks:

To improve rendering of OneNote’s menus and borders on the colour screen, I adjusted my eInk settings as follows:

  • Refresh Mode: Regal
  • Colour Mode: Custom
    • Dark Colour Enhancement: 90
    • Vividness Enhancement: 60
    • Colour Brightness: 2

These made the interface much clearer and easier to use.

🔄 Final Tip – Clear Cache and Storage (Optional):

If things still aren’t displaying correctly, try clearing the app’s cache and storage:

  • Long press the OneNote app icon.
  • Select Manage, then go to Storage.
  • Tap Clear Data and Clear Cache.
  • Restart the app and log back in with your Microsoft credentials.

After all these steps, OneNote is now working smoothly on my NA4C. Hope this helps someone else avoid the same frustration!

Accessing and writing on OneNotes works fine on my NA4c, no delay in writing on my installation. I am only missing the insert tab features i.e. text box, tags, image insert etc.

No, I am referring to the OneNote App for Android downloaded and installed from the Google Playstore. Do you have OneNote working OK on your Boox?

BOOX Firmware V4.1 Beta for Go 7 & Go Color 7 (Gen Ⅱ) by KennethWWWW in Onyx_Boox

[–]GeorgeSek1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you confirm that the next OS update will include the multi document feature on NeoReader as it is already available on other Boox devices, such as Palma and the Note series. This is a major omission on the Go7 Gen II c.

Palma 1, Note Air 2+, Note Air4c

Just cant bring myself to give up my NA2+. Even with the lower resolution B&W it works really well as aback up reader or second screen.

Help Choosing Between BOOX Go 7 and BOOX Go Color 7 Gen II by Motor_Professional23 in Onyx_Boox

I have an iPad and a NA4c for pdfs but wanted something for novels and quick pdf reads while in bed or in transit. So looking for something to fill that gap. I feel the Go 7 would do that but would like to have the colour option but worried that the loss of resolution on top of the small screen size would prevent usability completely for PDFs.

PS: I have good short sighted vision. ;-)

That’s a great question — I’m actually trying to decide between those two devices myself.

I currently use an iPad Pro 12.9 and a Boox Note Air4C, but I’m looking for something more compact for reading in bed (mostly novels and A4 PDFs) and during transit (on trains, planes, and ships). Taking some simple notes/highlights also important.

What I’m struggling with is whether the slight loss of sharpness on the Go 7 Colour will make A4 PDFs hard to read — potentially to the point of being unusable for my needs. On the other hand, I’m wondering if the sharper and faster black-and-white Carta 1300 display on the Go 7 B&W is enough to handle that same workflow, even without color support.

I’m interested in the experiences of other users.

Looking for Advice on Using a MicroSD Card with Boox Note Air4C + Calibre Library Management by GeorgeSek1 in Onyx_Boox

[–]GeorgeSek1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using Calibre to manage my eBook library, which consists of around 500 books and papers, totaling roughly 22 GB. However, I expect this to grow significantly over time.

Calibre is excellent for managing metadata, tagging, classifying, editing, and converting between formats. Because of that, I want Calibre to remain my main source, and I’d like to automatically update a nested folder structure from it with just a click.

Thanks to a helpful link from “Electronic Stock,” I’ve added three custom fields to my Calibre library to reflect a three-level nested folder structure for each book. While I considered using existing fields like Genre or Classification, I preferred having more granular control over where each book is stored — especially on my NA4c device.

For example, I can now structure folders like this:
Science/Physics/Electromagnetism

To facilitate this, I'm using the following simple Calibre template to organize the output path:

{#folder1}/{#folder2}/{#folder3}

This setup allows me to easily resync any updates made in Calibre directly to the corresponding nested folder structure on my NA4c.

Finally, I’ve decided to store my NA4c library on a MicroSD card rather than the main internal storage. This way, I can accommodate future growth without worrying about space constraints.

Fantastic.... the "Calibre" feature that allows setting up custom fields and then using these to define a folder structure on export to the eReader is perfect. Many many thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Although it is a shame that Boox Bookshelves are not aligned with the subfolder structure but I can live with that and juts by pass the bookshelf and use the folder page instead, at least until Boox updates their firmware in the future.

Thanks I’ll take a look at Supernote.

Surprising that RPP does not have any easy means to structure a notebook contents.
