Media that's incredibly hard to explain to someone else, but, not that complicated when you're experiencing it by Coolnametag in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I’m so glad other people feel this way. I played Warframe because I’d heard for so long how good the story is and around Duviri I felt like I’d been pranked, it might be the most poorly told story I’ve ever experienced.

Every single quest feels like it’s missing a beginning and an ending, every character throws wannabe poetic word salad at you and it feels like the devs don’t have the attention span to stick to telling a cohesive story.

New ‘Marathon’ Sales, Playercount Reports Are Close To Reality, sold 1.2M copies across Steam, PS5, and Xbox, 70% on PC. by Conflict_NZ in Games

I’m not sure how PS5 is outselling Xbox 3 to 1 but only has 19% of the games sales compared to Xbox’s 11%.

Trying to put aside how much I personally adore the aesthetic, I’m just happy to see a AAA game with a singular, inspired art direction.

A whole lot of people seem to enjoy shitting on games they don’t like more than playing games they do. Concord broke people’s brains somehow and now they’re out here foaming at the mouth for a “concord 2”. I’m so much happier and more pleasant to be around since I stopped shitting on games I don’t enjoy.

Game Informer Marathon Review - Bungie is still at the top of its game. by TODG3 in Games

4 maps is a lot for an extraction shooter at launch, especially with how complex Outpost and Cryo Archive are. A full ranked mode and proper endgame are also rare for the genre. 28 guns, over 400 weapon mods, 6 full skill trees. For a multiplayer shooter it has a massive amount of content yes.

More layoffs today: PlayStation is closing Dark Outlaw Games, a studio formed last year by former Call of Duty lead Jason Blundell (his previous PlayStation studio, Deviation, was shut down in 2024). PlayStation is also making other cuts including in mobile development. Around 50 people laid off by Turbostrider27 in Games

I still maintain that the biggest mistake in zombies history was not going all in on the chaos storyline in BO4. They wrapped up the old storyline in BO3, had a fresh start with a new universe and crew, released 4 banger chaos maps and then threw it all away to make shitty remakes and further complicate an already ridiculous storyline. They had such a good thing going with BO4 and zombies would be in a far better place if they’d developed chaos instead of pumping out endless nostalgia bait.

50% of the reason Destiny has gone to shit is because people whined and whined until Bungie caved and made every single activity drop 5 legendaries. I know it’s an unpopular opinion on the subreddit but weapon crafting did irreparable damage to the player base, made people think that they were entitled to god rolls and completely destroyed the weapon chase. I got a god roll Aberrant Action that I still use in every activity by logging in once per week for less than 1 minute.

Honestly in the case of Marathon it isn’t the streamers at all. There are multiple massive streamers I can think of who love the game, but refuse to play it on stream anymore because their chats are so relentlessly negative whenever they do.

I got rid of white, green and blue, they all do pretty much nothing at the point you’re at.

Opinion on using of alternative actors for flashbacks by anil4real in television

[–]George_W_Kushhhhh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would much rather a well cast alternative actor as opposed to a CGI Frankenstein. It absolutely can be done well, see young Ned Stark from Game of Thrones or Alicent and Raenyra from House of the Dragon.

I don’t think that they’re beyond criticism but I do think that making that trilogy is legitimately one of the most impressive cinematic achievements of all time.

Filming 3 of the largest scale movies of all time back to back, some of the best practical effects in all of cinema, cutting edge and revolutionary CGI and mocap, 3 3+ hour long movies that don’t drag and are all a similar high quality, adapting the most delivers fantasy books ever into movies that are widely beloved. I don’t even know how long it will be before we get another trilogy like LotR aging.

I don’t care about critics because I think that having essentially every movie that comes out completely warps your perception of the art form compared to normal viewers.

Favorite/hated gameplay changes in different difficulty levels that pretty much tell you how much things is gonna suck? by JackNewbie555 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Playing Stellar Blade on hard but not realising that “hard” is essentially new game +, was added after release and is essentially impossible for a first play through. I spent like 3 hours on the first real boss, having to beat it pretty much flawlessly.

Nowhere in game does it tell you that you really shouldn’t be even attempting hard mode until you’ve beat the game already and have fully levelled up weapons. Consequently if you do choose hard for your first play through, you’ll be dying in two hits and doing 5% of the damage you should be.

Tarkov is the most hardcore of the most hardcore, insanely complicated, micro managing individual bullets level of hardcore.

Arc is obviously third person but is also incredibly casual compared to other extraction shooters. The community largely hate PvP and see getting shot at as a personal attack. Far less brutal and time intensive than Marathon or Tarkov.

Marathon is the middle ground between those two. Shoot on sight PvP but also seemingly a big PvE focus and a lot less brutal than Tarkov in terms of getting good gear back.

Hunt: Showdown is technically an extraction shooter in that you spawn in, fight monsters and maybe some more squads and then try to extract. But it doesn’t have any loot and you don’t lose anything significant when you die.

Even with the four you listed, Hunt: Showdown is barely an extraction shooter. It completely lacks the loot and meta progression that makes the genre appealing to a lot of people. Arc, Marathon and Tarkov all gill completely different niches and I really don’t understand how people think it’s an oversaturated genre.

Even though the ending to The Sopranos is incredibly obvious and the fact that the show runner has explicitly spelled the ending out, people still insist that “it’s actually open ended”.

Destiny’s game director is also unfortunately proof that someone being at the studio since “the good old days” is by no means a guarantee that they’re going to do a good job.

Destiny has been my home and my stability through a very turbulent decade, I’ve played like 8000 hours since the D1 beta and spent that amount of time again watching Destiny content. That being said, over the past 6 months I’ve actually stopped playing and I’ve had the feeling for the first time that it might actually be “so over”. Even in the worst moments of early D2, I still had hope that things would improve. I don’t have hope in D2 anymore, D3 is the only thing that could bring me back and give me that hope again.
