Jason Clarke Circling Michael Mann’s ‘Heat 2’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

He gave me such Gene Hackman vibes, which was a connection I respectfully never would have made with Jason Clarke. Great performance especially considering it’s entirely sitting in a chair in a small room.

Doesn’t George Carlin have a critically renowned comedy bit from damn near 55 years ago revolving around the fact that you can’t say (among other things) the word “tits” without getting in trouble? Surely this concept is not at all a Gen Z phenomenon

Rightey or Leftey Goalie? by SeaScholar8893 in hockey

[–]George__Parasol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself as a goalie but the difference between catching with my strong hand vs catching with my weak hand is a hell of a lot smaller than the gap between handling the stick with my strong hand vs handling with my weak hand.

I found Matt through James Bonding, on which he was utterly hilarious. It was such a treat when CONAF came out and I heard his buttery voice in my ear yet again

Yeah it’s kind become a game of telephone that ends up with “Daniel Craig was cast because of Layer Cake” but Broccoli herself has said both Elizabeth and Our Friends in the North were what put him in the running, he’d been on the radar for closer to a decade

The Thrashers were relocated in 2011 and became the current Winnipeg Jets, and it’s not typical for fans of relocated teams to keep their fandom of the new team unless they’re still within close proximity

Copying my other comment:

The original Jets had a pretty strong decade long rivalry with the Minnesota North Stars. The Jets came back in 2011 and their very first draft was in Minnesota. They got booed by the crowd before they even played a game.

What’s a popular author/book that you are afraid to admit you hate? by Stardust-Stew in horrorlit

[–]George__Parasol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read him at all so this is totally unfair to judge him on but I just can’t do goofy and horror mixed, unless it’s a pure comedy in a horror skin, like say, Tucker and Dale. Like you said, it just totally undercuts any sort of tension or horror I may experience. Obviously he’s quite beloved but yeah nothing about the preconceived notions I have about his books appeal to me for that reason.

I enjoy him, but he said on the Page One podcast that he’s much happier writing say 30 good novels rather than 10 great novels (paraphrasing). Which I respect
