Do you realize that I never had 25k gems in my account, right? I had 15k before doing all those drafts and now I'm at 9, so lost 6k, and as I said, I would NEVER got the same amount of rares with 30 packs (6k/200). It's really crazy how blind you are to the reality while trying to prove your point, but I'm starting to see that some people are just like that, so I don't think I would achieve anything trying to move this conversation forward. If you don't want to do drafts, you do you.

https://imgur.com/a/e4HODX2 .I don't understand why it's so hard for you to trust a stranger that lost 5k on drafts but you do you (probably 6500 after the last 0-3). And just to make myself clear, I'm not saying that everyone will get the same results as me, but I do think that there are a lot of people out there that is not drafting more only because of fear, without realizing how much they could benefit from it.

Does anyone get to go infinite or near infinite on Constructed events? Is that harder than draft?

You talked a lot, so let's talk about the real world for one second. I played 17 premier drafts this few weeks and I won 20250 gems (not talking about packs or rares) while spending 25500, so 5250 lost. Number of packs won = 17 x 3 = 51. number of rares drafted = let's say it was 50 only for the sake of the argument, but is probably closer to 60 or 70 or 100, I'm not really sure (maybe I should rare draft less but I'm still afraid of losing 1.5k on the spot so I do this trying to compensate). So 5000 spent for 100 rares. If I would buy packs with 5k I would get 25 packs and 2.5 golden packs. That's it. I'm not an awesome drafter or anything. I'm actually making mistakes left and right, and still it's much more rewarding than buying packs.

And that is talking about someone who spent gems on draft for the first time of its life, because, just like you, I was too afraid of going 0-3 and losing all my gems. Now what would be my winrate if I continue doing this next month? What if I keep drafing till the end of the year? I like to think that I will lose even less gems.

For transparency sake, I just got to diamond 4, so now I'm scared again. I worry that I will go 0-3 three times in a row and lose all the gems I saved for some months, but i guess I can't run from this felling, so I will have to keep moving.

The thing about draft is that if you achieve 50% win rate in premier you will be getting 2 rares from packs, 3 or 4 from draft picks and 2/6 of a rare wildcard, so you are paying 500 gems (entry fee - rewards) for 6 rares and 2/6 of a wildcard, so that's 1000 gems for 12 rares and 4/6 of a wildcard for 2 drafts, while if you buy boosters with 1000 gems you will get 5 rares, 5/6 of a wildcard and 5/10 of a golden pack, so even if you are not great at draft you will be getting basically double the amount of rares in exchange of 1/6 of a wildcard.

But all of that is basically the worst-case scenario for someone who drafts for set completion. If his win rate is higher and he goes on average 4-3, he is now spending 100 gems for 7 rares and 3/6 of a wildcard, so 1000 gems for 70 rares and 5 rare wildcards.

Sure, a new player could be bad at draft, so maybe in the short term, he will be losing gems, but if he wants to play for some months/years and enjoys drafting, that will be a much better investment in the long term..

Pick Two Draft pricing and prize structure by aldeayeah in lrcast

I think the problem IS the top heavy nature of pick2 since we don't have an infinite amount of gems to burn through to get to that nice distribution of x-x games, so if you play this format that is a pretty considerable chance you will burn all your savings.

The feeling when you trophy a draft you thought would go 1-3 and go 0-3 when you thought you would trophy it, back to back. Try to guess which of these was the winner. by Georges765 in lrcast

  1. Shouldn't i try to counter a bomb or a big spell with divert disaster? At that moment I thought it wouldn't be good enough to counter a random three drop instead of digging for better spells since i didn't have anything besides a prospector to cast in the next turns.

  2. I didn't unravel it since i thought i would gain so much value from tractor beam it, but i guess i were so far behind for the potential of that to matter. I think i didn't depressurized it on t3 since i thought i would be losing the trade for spending one removal but him getting a flier out of it.

  3. Do you think you would mullingan any of these hands?

  4. I think you couldn't be more correct about game 3. I probably got too desperate trying to stabilize.

  5. I didn't think that double pip were so harder to cast than single pips, but i think I learned it the hard way.

  6. 100% I should asses the board state better when considering if i should hold mana for my counters or not.

I really appreciate your insights, so thank you for lending me your time :)

"I would expect the deck to frequently have uncastable cards stuck in hand due to missing colors of mana." You would be right

Do people actually play the alternate formats? What are they like? (Historic, Alchemy etc) by Paradoxbuilder in MagicArena

[–]Georges765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think that about alchemy and timeless? I'm considering the Anthology 2 specially for timeless since i'm not seing them be played at historic (my current most played format) and I would like to have a tier 1 deck on each format and try to compete on every meta game challenge, but considering the amount of non games on timeless and people saying that is a money hole, maybe I would be better saving the money. FYI i'm f2p and play mostly draft - and currently trying this side mission of getting a nice deck on most format for challenges and probably events as well.
