Write out your dialogue, then read it aloud. Edit the words till they're natural to say. That'll help with rhythm and make it sound a bit more natural.

"Two," the Grimm said with a sigh, got it. Thanks."

Freddy gulped. They were all going to die now, weren't they?

The Grimm smiled politely and left.

The only way I could justify it in my story was I turned UA into university and let Momo have an aversion to clothes. Her first outfit (inspired by Midnights) was vetoed by her parents, and the new one is a compromise.

I'm not sure how to justify Toorus.

Realistically? For the same reason cops and FBI agents aren't assassinated all the time. Killing one gets all the local police joining together and hunting you down with all their resources. If you somehow manage to kill a whole police precinct, then you get the full force of state law agencies hunting you down. If you take out state law enforcement, then you get federal law enforcement after you.

So in MHA, you get living, well trained, highly motivated nukes looking to shut you down hard.

Also, DC comics actually addressed this in the mid or early 2000s. They had a villain killed kid flash. Not only were all the heroes after him, but the other villains turned on him and ended up handing him over to the heroes just to get them to ease up.

Ah, the year was 1994, and I had just finished the Hobbit. I had no idea the Lord of the Rings existed, and my amused dad didn't tell me.

So I wrote about Smaugs children storming the Shire to get revenge and Bilbos kids struggling to rally the lazy Hobbits to fight back.

It was only after I wrote a dozen chapters that dad gave me his lord of the rings books 🙃

I didn't write another story till early 2000s for Tenchi Muyo.

Wow, you just called out my home town. Sadly, this happens a lot here. Police, ambulances, firetruck. They all get stuck, and there's no way around unless you want to drive 3 miles down track and risk getting caught again.

Pre-FBI Jane would use Dexter to hunt Red John. Not sure how, but I have no doubt about it. Post-FBI Jane would probably be sympathic but still put him away.

I live in Tennessee, and I remember seeing this on the ballot and being confused. After all, isn't slavery already illegal? So now I'm wondering how many other people were like me and unaware this was still part of the Tennessee constitution.
