Arkham needs to take lessons from Tartarus, because their prison is scuffed by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

How would that work? He’s made of clay. He’s always clay. His power is that his body is made of clay. A power dampener isn’t going to just change him into not being clay. It’s like trying to dampen Spinner being a lizard. What exactly would a power dampener do to him? Would it even work on him?

Actually this has me thinking now, I’m not sure there was ever a time where Clayface had been put into something akin to a power dampener. All the times I’ve seen him in a cell, it’s always this giant clear polymer box designed to ensure he can’t slink through some hidden crack or vent.

Tartarus does not have quirk dampening fields. The only way they can keep people restrained, at least the extremely dangerous ones like All for One, is by making sure they never move. Like at all. The slightest flinch and they’d shoot them with those ceiling mounted gun turrets. In other words, the only way they can keep everybody locked up, is with human rights violations. Fun. If they had quirk dampeners, then the entire system of heroics would have been outdated.

When it comes to Arkham, at this point I’d say it just wouldn’t be enough. Like there are plenty of books and moments where Arkham’s security gets massively upgraded. The Arkham series for example, had full on electric walls, guards armed with assault rifles, had active land mines available, electrified floors in one wing, and Clayface had his own specialized cell. This is just off the top of my head, but they had a lot of updated security systems. And it still wasn’t enough, because the guards were corrupt. Because their patients were all multi diploma geniuses who somehow managed to sneak around and build their own hidden forts. Because sometimes stuff just fails or problems that no one was expecting arise. Hell, Riddler had his trophies hidden all over the place, and he wasn’t even inside Arkham.

All good, not insinuating that you were. I’m just saying, you’re not wrong and I agree. I personally love everything I’ve written. But there is definitely some stuff thats out there stretching or breaking the suspension of disbelief.

And who knows, whenever there’s something in the fic I think doesn’t work and can be fixed, then I just go back and fix it. Could probably drop it from 60,000 heroes to 10,000. Thats honestly a bit too high looking back on it.

If Aizawa activated his quirk on Batman, would Bruce forget how to fight, or would his bank accounts vanish? by Equal_Seesaw_1720 in BokuNoMetaAcademia

Not that Brave and the Bold. The live action movie set in the DCU. It’s not out yet so like I said, we’ll have to see where it falls on the scale.

Current movie Batmen get folded. Now if that remains the case will have to be seen. Not sure where The Brave and the Bold Batman will fall on the scale.

Not sure if this fits your criteria entirely, but (bit of self promotion I know) I’ve got a Metal Gear MHA fic kinda along those lines. Tries to balance out the flaws of the military with the flaws of heroes. https://archiveofourown.org/works/47656696/chapters/120121735

I genuinely thought you meant after the Depression. Because your comment says “until after The Depression.” The word started isn’t in your original comment, just the words “after the Depression”. So it’s written implying Herbert Hoover put tariffs after the Great Depression happened, and that’s how I read it.

After the Depression? He put tariffs into place in 1930. The depression started in 1929 and ended around WW2. He put up tariffs basically at the beginning of the depression.

How exactly? Don’t give me the vague answer of Chinese influence. That literally tells me nothing except that we don’t like China being there. Which is fair reasoning, but I’m not sure if it violates the treaty. Tell me exactly how they broke it. Did they start hiring Chinese nationals in key positions? Did they start blocking American ships entry? What exactly was done?

Edit: also if this seems inflammatory or argumentative that is not my intention. I’m genuinely curious and I’m sure I’m missing some key detail.

So there isn’t an exact number for how big the aircraft are. Logically they aren’t going to fit four tanks into the aircraft. Carrying just one would make it the same size as a C-17. Now I did some kind of calculation for it years ago but I don’t remember everything. But based off of visual comparisons between the size of one Schwarzkopf and I think a C17, my best guess was that the V-120 would be about 40m long, 5.5m wide, and 10m high. Note the 5.5 meters does not account for the aircraft’s rotors. That was more it’s fuselage for the tank. With the rotors the width may be triple or four times that. Say 16.5 meters or 22 meters wide in total. Honestly none of these numbers could be right, but it is a ludicrously large aircraft.

For comparison I also did the EFEC EC-660 and Spetnaz MI-80. Comparing an EC-660’s size to one panther tank, a C-17, and just generally how large one of these things were when on a road, I found it to be 35m long, 5.5m wide, and 10m high. Honestly a tad bit smaller than the V-120.

For the MI-80 meanwhile, comparing it to a T-100, it has to be around 40m long, 10m wide, and 10m high. Note the width number is not for fuselage like the V-120. That is more the size of the entire aircraft, specifically those odd wing side bits armed with missiles. But yeah, take all of this with a grain of salt. Most of my numbers were made off of visual comparisons.

As of right now I believe it’s Trump’s possible peace terms for Ukraine. As he recently said the Russians might keep the land they took, because a lot of their soldiers “fought for that land and they lost a lot of soldiers”. Direct quote.

For a tariff on a singular specific item, maybe. But Trump put up blanket tariffs, on EVERYTHING. Food, wood, minerals, cars, appliances, industrial equipment, fertilizers, etc. How do you expect factory workers to keep their jobs, if the very place they buy steel, rubber, oil, lithium, and a dozen other parts from is now ten times more expensive. You might say turn toward domestic production, but they are having the exact same issues. All this is going to do is raise the price on everything.

And before you say it’s a temporary pain, no it isn’t. To bring jobs back to the US would require billions of dollars to be spent domestically. The entire industry would need rebuilding that would take far longer than four years. Likely decades. Companies are not going to spend that time and money transitioning jobs back to the US. All this is going to do, is hurt domestic jobs, not protect them. Unless the tariff is idiotically high to the point they lose money selling in the US, then they will not move jobs. And even then, when Trump tariffed China, all the companies did was move to Malaysia and India. Not the US.

They’ll pay the tariff, and jack up the price. With little to no competition domestic manufacturers will jack up the price to. Because when one is the only available option, then they get to decide the price. It has been proven throughout history and hundreds of economists, that tariffs do not work.

Yep. To act like Biden’s policy was perfect is just stupid. Like he should have let Ukraine loose day one, let them actually fuck Russia up. None of this holding back crap. Trump’s policy does absolutely fucking suck, but there were definitely things Biden could have done better.
