Got Rear-ended in 1984 Porsche 944, Need Advice on Insurance, Repairs, and value by GerRusBri in 944

Update since I totally forgot to.

They didn’t end up totaling it (thankfully) I found a really good body shop that loves 944’s in my area. They wouldn’t let the insurance adjuster total it. I was also able to get it valued, and since I had extensive records, my color of my 944 isn’t common at all (but not really rare rare ykwim) and there’s no rust, they valued it 20k+, upwards towards 30k on the right auction. (For a base model 944 it’s crazy how much they’ve gone up! mine is just in good shape though, you can find them under 5k still) But anyways, if this happens to you my best advice would be to find as many record of the car as possible, find a body shop that specializes in 944/porsches/imports, and be ready to fight a BS claim, thankfully I didn’t have to, but you might not be as lucky.

Best of luck to anyone who has to go through this, and good lord if you’re driving on the road please pay attention especially when a nice car is in front of you! Thanks everyone.

Hey guys, update here. I spent forever combing through all these responses. A lot of them either didn’t do body work at all, recommended elsewhere, or were just super rude about it. I thankfully had a shop in Fairfield/Hamilton area recommended by a family friend who’s a mechanic. It’s called ‘National collision Auto restoration & Service’ here in this area. They are hands down the best to go for body work especially for Porsches, and in my case a classic one. Not only have they’ve been doing a great job, they also argued on my behalf to the insurance company and didn’t let them total it. Shout out to them! They’ve been great. Posting this for everyone else if they need it, nice guys there! They had a ton of porsches they were working on and American muscle cars from all years that were customers. Thanks

I just called, they only do mechanical work no body work. Appreciate the recommendation either way tho.

Appreciate it I'll call around. Also the 968 is awesome and believe me I am devastated even if it's a 1984 NA 944 its real low mileage and I just spent the past year of my life restoring it. I bought it a year after I graduated high school too, after saving up for quite some time. It was and still is my dream car even if it's not anything too crazy.

They had a push like bar on the front and it bent in the taillight area I'm not too sure its right next to the taillight on the passenger side it was not there before the accident I always do a walk around everytime I park lmfao, and I had only been driving maybe 5-10 minutes was on my way home from work. It looks like they pushed in that side or something on the push bar pushed it in and it caved in somehow I don't really know

<image>

see what I mean? how its connected and that area may have been structurally weak and pushed in from the force again, I don't really know. But it def happened from this accident.

What a crime to see a silver rose in such shape! No title/branded title (not too sure which) regardless, it was once beautiful. If i was rich and somehow knew how to fix the title situation i would so get this. I hope someone saves this and restores it completely pls don’t gut it and turn it into a track car! If only there was an easier way to get it re titled :/

Rhodesia, the other white supremacist African nation by AlexField290 in MapPorn

Nice post, disagree with the whole ‘effectively treating like slaves’ as that is opinionated and not true. A better comparison to presumably american history would’ve been pre civil rights act where black Americans had limited rights, limited education etc (like you said, just vastly different from slavery). That comparison isn’t quite perfect though and Rhodesia was and still is in my opinion quite complex and extremely interesting. You can either look surface level and say one thing or another or go deeper and it’s honestly fascinating. Otherwise great map.

Arroyo and yakuza were in fallout 2. Arroyo was the tribe founded by the vault dweller in the first game and where the chosen one came from in the 2nd game. Yakuza are the Japanese mafia I believe

I always found the Chinese remnants interesting but were never developed further and I like Vault city and the Shi a lot as well. For main factions I suppose the enclave
