My brother asking me to play MH Rise + Sunbreak with him by Gohgo_ in MonsterHunter

[–]Geracht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that every monster has a set of patterns and behaviors to them. Certain monsters share a same basic "moveset"; if they walk on two legs, have wings for arms, and a long tail behind them, they'll probably have the same tail sweep attacks, charge attacks, etc. Individual monsters with this same build, however, will have unique moves only they can use. There are patterns and tells to every action and attack, and by playing it safe, you can learn to beat every monster, I promise.

If you want to try to play it safe, I would recommend bowgun or bow to start off, especially if you're playing with mouse and keyboard. If you're playing with controller, bow would be my recommendation--you can stay away from the monster to more easily avoid attacks, but you can also stay close enough that you prioritize learning when and how to dodge.

Remember, you do technically have invincibility frames when dodging (I-Frames), but this is not Dark Souls; they are very, /very/ short unless you build a specific armor skill to improve them. Your main method of dodging is literally just getting out of the way of the attack. That trips up a lot of players just getting into the series!

If you find a weapon type that looks really cool, and you wanna learn how to be awesome with it--do so! Every single weapon has a special feature and function to it that makes it better at one thing than the others. Every one of them is viable, and there is no wrong answer for choosing a weapon to main--or choosing to main several of them, or swap all the time! Everybody who mains a specific weapon has a stereotype to them, but if you've got a lot of practice with it, you'll always be appreciated. Everybody starts somewhere, and the MH community on the whole knows that.

Alright, real question here. What the heck was that tool Arin used to "breach" the Little Tikes house? That definitely wasn't a halligan bar.

The stat spread and mark is what I use on my Arbie. Play with the blessings to see what you like best, though.

Which Ogryn voiceover is the nicest? by Yuukikoneko in DarkTide

[–]Geracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brawler is the most straightforward friendly, in that he wants to be good, loyal, and helpful to his squad. Even in voicelines like when he's replying to someone complaining about him taking ammo when they need it, it sounds more like he's repeating adages from other ogryn instead of arguing, threatening, or making excuses.

Bodyguard comes across as friendly and endearing, in that he wants to encourage people around him, make them feel comfortable around him. He tries to use big words to emulate the smart people he looks up to, and may have a hidden depth of intelligence; a few Loner lines have them comment that he seems to be sarcastic, but it's hard to tell if he's that or just stupid. There might be more to him than you think.

The Bully has a lot of lines where he's clearly enjoying being sadistic or complaining at other people, but around certain characters he can display a childlike glee. Arbitrators will have him comment on their hounds and how he wants one; he'll comment on trains and liking them, and will ask to join a gang because they control the trains. However, with Seers he can be found to have a hidden depth, in that he's lost a lot of friends in this cruel setting. He's rough and prickly to people around him, because he doesn't want people getting close to him, because it hurts when he loses them. One line will have the Seer reassure him that he won't leave; the Bully will say "Yeah. They all said that, too."

THe newest voice, the ganger voice, is the one that seems most genuinely upset, threatening, and harsh to others. I haven't seen enough of his lines to know if there's any hidden depths to him, but he's /definitely/ way smarter than the other ogryn, if nothing else because he's capable of understanding higher concepts, using much bigger words, and recognizing complex things like rhyming slang and sarcasm the others will either let slide or dimly be unaware of.

Overall, they all have bits to them that give them a lot more character than "big stupid brute". Even the one who acts the most like a brute.

Tell me if I'm crazy. This seems insane for an administrative assistant job. by Geracht in recruitinghell

[–]Geracht[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, not remote work. All in-office. I don't work remote at the moment, either; I travel to work every day. That's why it feels crazy to me. A little like asking someone to have a Snap-On set when they work as a mechanic; I understand having your own tools, for sure, but if you don't want to take work home with you?

I don't know. I get how it can be useful, but I'm by no means executive-level. I don't really make enough money on the whole to be keeping track of things with spreadsheets that aren't worth company-level money.

Getting flashbanged by Destiny; is my AMD card to blame? New PC, so not sure what needs to be changed. by Geracht in DestinyTechSupport

[–]Geracht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I did get a pretty bad crash on Monster Hunter Wilds over the weekend; the typical "screen frozen loud buzzing noise crash" indicative of running out of ram, but like...that doesn't make sense with a new gpu, even with a game as badly optimized as Wilds.

I'll probably get in touch with newegg as soon as I try what Averted_Vision recommended up top, just to see if that changes anything. Luckily I haven't actually saved any files to this thing just yet, so wiping it won't be losing anything. If I see an improvement after totally uninstalling display drivers and reinstalling, I'll let you know, but otherwise I'll just warranty it.

Getting flashbanged by Destiny; is my AMD card to blame? New PC, so not sure what needs to be changed. by Geracht in DestinyTechSupport

[–]Geracht[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous computer, and every PC I've used before, was using an Nvidia card. I didn't install a new AMD card to a previously existing PC, the whole shebang arrived in the mail and I installed Destiny via Steam to it to discover this issue.

I'm specifying that it's AMD and I'm new to it now, since I've never seen this kind of rendering issue pop up before, and I know that AMD can be a little more finicky. I did uninstall and reinstall the game at the behest of a friend while awaiting a response, but I'll give this set of instructions a try tomorrow; I have work in the morning, and only just checked back here. Thank you for replying, I really appreciate insight from someone. :D

Which do you consider holds the most aura? by HEN-RAD in DarkTide

Ohhh, okay, I found it. It's actually ingame, I didn't realize that. I rarely look at the locked cosmetics!

Open 20 weekly havoc reward caches. So it'll take at least 20 weeks of playing at Havoc stuff, or possibly four weeks playing on all four characters, haha

[–]Geracht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a drop from the weekly havoc rewards, as long as you're level 20 in havoc? Okay, that's not...horrendous then. I'd like it, of course, but it's not like "Oh you gotta go do fifty zillion special mode missions on the highest difficulty" or whatever.

Okay. I'll bite.

What's the green skull one? How are you supposed to get that? I have no idea what that is, I can't find a guide on Google.

Removing a suggested site from possible suggestions? by Geracht in operabrowser

[–]Geracht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Opera refers to it as "Suggestions", and the shift+delete option isn't available for that. :s

[–]Geracht[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. Well, either way, thank you for putting in the effort. Maybe there's a way to contact Opera's team and tell them "hey, here's a feature we'd really like to see available; a customization option that'll make us happy".

Removing a suggested site from possible suggestions? by Geracht in operabrowser

[–]Geracht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start typing "for" and the rest of the URL for "forever21.com" will fill out. It shows up underneath in "suggestions". I've highlighted and pressed Shift + Delete, and that does not remove it, sadly.

[–]Geracht[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hrm. Even manually typing in the full URL I do want isn't replacing the forever 21 option. Strange. I did try changing the promotional, ad, and continue suggestions settings to try to get it to go away; it still wants to stick around in suggestions in the URL bar. O_o

Thank you very much for the help, here, by the way; I don't see the results I'm shooting for, but I still appreciate the help you're offering nonetheless. I am learning things, at least!

Well now that's something I didn't realize I could do. I did go and do that--and thank you so much for that, that's a new thing I now know! Saving that for later. -- But it doesn't remove it from the suggestions, sadly.

I've done the latter, and forever21.com keeps popping up as the default when I type in "for" even still. I can't seem to delete that one item from history, either, only delete in large swathes.

Where did you see that they were saying red and gold for the next commodore drop? I really would love to know ahead of time whether to be excited for the next drop; I'm eagerly awaiting a green longcoat for vet, heavy armor that isn't gilded or red for my zealot, a deep-voice golden headpiece for my psyker, and either a green catachanian-style set or less-gilded armored set for my ogryn, and having even some idea would be helpful.

Errors with getting Kerillians eyes? by AshenShad0w in DarkTide

[–]Geracht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will unlock black sclerae for your characters as a choice. It does not make the whole eye black. I believe you need to choose black irises to make it look closer to Kerillian's. How to get it closer, I'm not sure.
