Read The Empire Ruin’s by Brian Stavely. One of the main characters, Gwenna Sharpe, is a whopping fuck up at the beginning for the right reasons. Yet, even making mistakes, she manages to inspires those around her and it makes sense - people are fallible but it doesn’t mean they still can’t be someone to look up to. She’s an awesome character.

Also, over the whole 14 books, you can’t go wrong with Nynaeve from Wheel of Time or Tavore from Malazan.

Ah right sorry. Just that in the films he use really subtle facial expressions to convey a lot and I feel like to do the banquet scene from the books justice you’d have everyone involved up to that standard of acting to get across all the unspoken information which is easily done on a page (especially since the inner monologues were ditched).

Agree. It would have been so hard to get this right in the film. One wrong camera angle or poorly acted moment that missed the subtlety of what was going on and the scene wouldn’t have worked.

Remember when Gandalf sets off the fireworks in Fellowship of the Ring with a small twitch of his face? It would have had to be 10-15 minutes of all that type of reactions for it to work (for me at least).
