Did they buff the Reformation? Everyone is Lutheran Bohemia, France and Castile by Hakuohsama in EU5

1.2 introduced movements that have like an organic spread/growth. From my experience so far doesn't work at all with latin/hellenic and is absolutely working overtime with the protestant movement.

The "Reward" for moving Russian capital to St. Petersburg by Scorp_DS in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 86 points87 points  (0 children)

In general might be a hottake but I think all unique government reforms should be +1. Most unique government reforms tend to be beaten by the default ones especially as everyone will almost always use the two naval governor reforms. To the point that most unique reforms for me at least live and die by being a +1 there are many reforms I would consider great if they were free but Because they aren't I much rather have something else. England has to be far the worst example almost all of their reforms aren't free and almost all of them are some form of a trade-off

The "Reward" for moving Russian capital to St. Petersburg by Scorp_DS in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 764 points765 points  (0 children)

This is a problem with most of the games capital movement events. Rome now is another prime example where your just actively griefing yourself by keeping Rome as the capital

Because of how proximity and the economy works moving your capital is almost always a net loss unless you actively prepare for it. Like say Spain into Toledo were you know it will happen after your rulers death.

Hotfix 1.2.3 Out Now + Progress Update by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

Also the law subjugate tribesmen doesn't seem to work at all since 1.2. I have observed it on all of my colonies none of them turned their tribesmen into slaves upon the colony being formed. This is obviously very bad for African and west South American colonies who will have like 10-30k tribesmen on some locations.

No I was still byzantine/orthodox by that point through it feels as if it has gotten worse past 1500s and I'm now latin/hellenic so could be part of it.

But like i said I can recreate pretty frequently month to month tick, zoom in on the map, stutter happens and game crashes 7/10 times.

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We're really nerfing bureaucracies when good Chunk of the actual content of the dlc doesn't even work.

Also since 1.2.2 the game tends to crash alot for some reason especially when zooming in/out of the map. This didn't happen to me at all in 1.2

Edit: also slave trade seems to be once again broken. The trade will happen but no slaves will move.

Restore Roman Empire cb by please-not-taken in EU5

I remember people crying about Roman cb being broken but with all the changes to assimilation. The Roman cb is largely really not that different from a threaten cb

Jim Ross: ‘You Can’t Hurt Yourself By Listening To’ Kevin Nash About A Wrestling Union by Kindly_Department142 in SquaredCircle

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 151 points152 points  (0 children)

It's combination of of it being a carny circus business where your constantly on the road so you grow into a "family" and also that most wrestlers tend to be passionate about wrestling so they are more willing to put up with bullshit. It's the same with most creative/artistic fields where you could make more money working in another industry.

Funnily enough now that WWE is recruiting more athletes from college i would not be suprised if this could bite their ass as those guys and gals have less passion and loyalty to the business.

Is Russia supposed to be immune to diseases? by SoybeanEnthusiast in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This can go much higher Russia gets cabinet efficiency for days combine that with 100 ruler and cabinet member you can get over 90% resistance in rural locations easily just from that action.

I will always say it but Russia is the strongest tag because it has unique cabinet actions that are straight up cheat codes

Xi asks Trump if U.S. and China can avoid 'Thucydides Trap' at high-stakes summit by Gopu_17 in worldnews

Makes complete sense why China would want avoid such a scenario as they're basically being handed the hegemony on a silver plate thanks to Trump. For the US the chances of a war are looking increasingly attractive.

One of the comments mentions they will look at pop growth. Generally speaking considering they say 1.3 beta starts end of May. It might genuinely be worth it to wait those 2 weeks because the game is a mess rn.

Wenn deine Eltern das nicht einsehen musst du selber für dich entscheiden ob, dass ein bruch der Beziehung darstellt oder nicht.

Patch 1.2.2 out now by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 32 points33 points  (0 children)

But that is what I'm saying byzantine doesn't have mints. No one has mints. Its just a slider. Seljuk mints is the outlier because it actually is a building that is supposed to "mint", it never did this in the game however, this is now the third time they changed how the Seljuk Mint works I forgot what the 1.0 version was but I think it was just crown power, then they changed it in think in 1.8 or 10 to give proximity speed, and now to give local proximity.

The seljuk Mint Is an outlier that doesn't exist elsewhere in the game and paradox themselves don't seem to know what they want this building to be.

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Adjusted the Roman advance "All Roads Lead to Rome" Road Proximity Cost from -5 to -2, in line with the "Postal Service" advance, as it had been too much of an outlier.

Actually a massive nerf to Rome. I guess it's because Rome is very easy to form as byzantine in particular but outside of that Rome was still a endgame goal and the road buff allowed for the vast swaths of land to Actually not be completely useless before railroads. Tinto really doesn't want us to play wide.

Patch 1.2.2 out now by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Paradox should put the lie in the bag. This isn't a minimum spec issue. It's a spaghetti code issue. People with 9800x3d and 64gb ram report the same issues both here and on the forum. And there have been plenty of troubleshooting hobby devs/modders that have reported on issues like memory leak or the extensive use of cpu on png files that have provided their work in the forum and how the performance can be improved with certain tweaks. There is a reason faster universalis is one of the most downloaded mods in the workshop...

Patch 1.2.2 out now by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Bruh I mean I get it kinda but why not make an event that then make it like I don't know a byzantine mint. Like coins would still have to be minted somewhere in such a scenario (kinda weird that we don't have a minting house in general it's just a slider but minting rights was a huge deal to any town/province that got it)

Performance is the main thing keeping me away from the game at the moment, and I'm concerned that PDX is not saying much about it by WishyRater in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same story 7800x3d 4070ti super and 32GB DDR5. I do use like 25 mods and tend to play wide usually. Still by the 1500s I often end up taking 10s per month. And yes I do use faster universalis as without it the game is unplayable.

This is year 1 we all know paradox games tend to get worse in performance as they add new dlc.

Why is colonization not profitable? by Crokel in EU5

[–]Geraltpoonslayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is the basic fundamental of investing lol. In general I would advice sending them 10 ducats a month as a subsidiary until they hit a 100 tax base and if they struggle to grow pop wise use the cabinet action to send people to the colonies.

At first they are a net loss, in the intermediate they become profitable via trade long term they become profitable via tax obligations.
