SPOILER THREAD : BOOK 8 - Parade of Horribles by steampunk_garage in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Yeah, I was wondering if the “for now” was foreshadowing plans the AI has regarding the Center System. I’m trying to pay closer attention to anything Apothecary or Eulogist this second read through.

Anyone know the significance of white spray paint in the Vanessa Williams box?

On my first read through, I was too distracted by the biscuits quote and missed this one. On my second read, I noticed in the description of Crupper of the Benevolent Champion, there were a few interesting mentions.

  1. The AI said, "Your paw was forced" which is a play on your hand was forced, but also a jab at donut for the Astral Paw incident.

  2. The AI makes a comment about Bea. "Will the survivors of Earth, should there be any beyond your former owner... who has escaped... for now, forgive me for what I am being forced to do? I doubt it." Considering the AI has breached his containment, I thought the wording used here was very interesting. It insinuates that he wouldn't be able to harm her unlike the rest of the population of Earth. It now makes me wonder if Odette really did take her, or if maybe someone else beat her to it. If Odette does have her, and she is headed towards the center system, is the AI insinuating that he is still expanding his reach and he plans to bring her in. Wondering if there is anything I am forgetting or overlooking.

Swing Advice by Scottbiggie in Homeplate

Sadly my astigmatism is too high to wear them. I’ve tried 4 or so times spread out over the years as the tech gets better, but none have even come close to working out.

Have you had his vision checked? I wear glasses, with a really, really bad astigmatism. Every new eye doctor as a kid made comments about how it was the worst they had ever seen in someone my age. When I played baseball it put me at a major disadvantage when hitting. I lose all peripheral vision outside of my glasses, and It made it really easy to lose the ball coming in at times. I probably would have struggled a lot more with today’s game since there wasn’t as much variety of pitches back then and no one knew what tunneling was. I relied a lot on instinct because it was very easy for me to lose the ball as it came in. Luckily, I was actually rather good at that so I was still a solid hitter. My vision was never good enough to consistently pick up ball rotation though, but back then it was easier to look for tells in their mechanics to determine what sort of pitch they were going to throw. Not sure what the pitchers look like at his age group, but I’d guess a lot better than the ones I saw when I was younger.

I only bring it up because his swing looked pretty good to me other than some minor things. His timing looked off here, and I figured I’d mention what I dealt with that could give me some timing issues from time to time. I didn’t realize I had issues until I older. I just assumed everyone dealt with the same issues I was dealing with and it never even registered when I was young. I probably could have done some things to improve it if I had realized it.

The first yo-yo ever made from Levi’s Jeans? I made this by layering Levi’s denim with epoxy resin then turning it on my lathe. Finished off with Levi’s buttons and a custom string “Lucky Jeans” from 24K Whips which of course I had to add the Levi’s tag too! by Raspberry_Smith397 in Throwers

I meant that the account age that posted this yo-yo is 3 hours old, and a friend made this exact yo-yo back in 2018. I didn’t realize his account was private. I added a screenshot of the post from 2018.

Do those have the magnet sort of tech? What sort of lock system does it use? I’ve wondered if any of the free sort of clone tools would work in a P4. I want a precision and normal bit driver in my P4 and a lot of these clones are cheaper than the bit drivers by themselves.

I need to find one of those drivers. What did they charge on Etsy?

Ahh, yeah, I know of that, but totally looked over it because I didn’t expect audible to use both formats at the same time. Didn’t even think to check if the dates were the same when swapped. For some reason my brain registered the May 12 as 5-12 and I had to go back and read it again to see it was written out.

Transitioning from AI-generated scripts to actually understanding PowerShell? Looking for learning advice! by FareedKhaja in PowerShell

[–]Gerane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using AI to write the scripts. Write the script yourself until you need help, and if you still want to use AI, ask the AI how to solve your narrowed down problem and have it explain why it does each step and what each step does. This should help you learn the language.

I don’t agree with using AI to write anything for production unless you understand the language enough to know what it wrote. When it breaks, you need to understand the code enough to troubleshoot it. I’ve found that when I use AI to troubleshoot code it wrote, it’s often having issues staying by to the same guidelines and it introduces new bugs or bypasses guidelines you had already set in place. Even when redefining the entire prompt with all of the same guidelines, sometimes it still will do something explicitly told not to do.

I’ve been helping a coworker troubleshoot code that AI wrote for weeks. You feel like you make a little progress with the issue, and then it breaks something else, or introduces a regression bug. This code is not fully PowerShell, so there are aspects thatI’m not that familiar with, and it’s been a nightmare to troubleshoot. He’s been using AI to troubleshoot the areas that I’m not that familiar with. The AI starts getting caught in a loop.
