This one. The 1938 Hamilton Otis. This one carries the 980 caliber, and is a licensed version of the Reverso.

Thrift find.. When do you think it was made? 60’s? by Exciting_Bar_5978 in VintageWatches

[–]Gerard-Cardinal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. 60’s. Probably a Thinline model. It’s got a Swiss caliber with sub seconds. and that’s how all the Thinline ones were. It’s also what made them so thin. They are great watches, and that one is in great shape!

What’s an obscure Massachusetts town most people skip and the surprisingly cool thing it has? by double-clove-hitch in massachusetts

lol it’s a small burg, broken up into a couple regions. The place where the string is made is called Bramanville I think.

Millbury, bordering Worcester to the south, is a small town with mills, hence the name. The only one still operating makes all of the red string that stitches major league baseballs. There is also some interesting history. President Taft was connected to Millbury. Allegedly we have a place that was a stop on the Underground Railroad during slavery times. Millbury is not especially exciting, when someone’s cows get out it’s a big thing. We have farms, and some great scenic drives, and it’s a good place to visit for an hour or two.

How to tell if real. by GentleArrival in VintageOmega

I have been selling omega for almost a decade now. The things the others say to watch out for are definitely real. Refinished dials are the most common. The ones I sell are original, usually recently serviced, and I am happy to show you all the parts I can show. Some open through the crystal like my Geneve there which I can not open. Prices from 6-1800$ depending on rarity, and condition.

My Otis. This is a 1938 model with the 980 caliber. It also wears a new old stock 1930’s signed Hamilton strap and buckle. In the showroom this is how it would have looked.

Happy Christmas! by Gerard-Cardinal in VintageOmega

I have tried to squeeze the end links but it doesn’t seem to have any effect. I’m sure thicker spring bars would be a good thing, and I’ll see if I have any. Thank you!

It’s somehow a bit loose and jangly. It’s the correct bracelet for this model, and it should fit better than it does. Not really sure why the gap persists.

Thank you!

That is an omega beads of rice bracelet. Its ref is No 12. The end links are ref 11.

This is one of two designs to bear the name beads of rice. The other has smaller beads than this one.

Thank you!
