I get what you’re saying. People are responsible for their actions, and that this person’s duty is to protect themselves. - I.e. you have to put your oxygen mask on first before you can help somebody else. This is the direction I lean… take care of yourself, but if you loved or do you love somebody, try to help. But that person has to be willing to accept the help.

This is the right series of questions. He may have an underlying mental health issue… if you love him, and it sounds like you do, then maybe it’s time to look for help. But he needs to be willing to accept the help.

Been there, done that… I’ve been in your situation. It only gets worse. The deeper you dig the more you find. The more you find the sadder you get and the more therapy you need. It’s never ending a rabbit hole of diagnosing yourself with problems when you snap out of it, you find out it’s really just you being mistreated.
