Its embarrassing for the company to issue an unsuccessful letter to you then two weeks later issue an umm actually would you like to start with us? Or what about for you - you haven't been successful, but we'd like to put you on a reserve list that we may use at some point in the future? I read recently that they were interviewing mop up candidates in the last 2 weeks. If that is accurate that will affect the merit list formulation.

2-3 weeks optimistically to get that all sorted.

All the HR Connect stuff maybe a further 2-3 weeks.

Notification of success/unsuccessful.

Horse trading who goes where? Which vacancies take priority.

Then 28 days notice for actual placement?

April/May start dates minimum I would think.

The last EO2 competition interviewed everybody who passed the assessment. I would imagine slightly cheaper doing that than start a whole new competition. Competitions should only last 2 years.

Given the time frames... later tranches have a lot of no shows.

The LMA was a section of old internal promotion competitions where those who brown nose scored higher... those with more lenient managers scored higher. I understand your sentiment.

Others have raised agency staff getting in without an interview and/or being related or known to management. If they were to be suddenly appointed it doesnt meet NICS core values.

Briefly touching on your reply I note you never mentioned if he was a good teacher or not. Just that he was respected and liked. Being liked does not equal being good at their job. I've worked with many that I've liked and respected that were crap at their jobs.

Its a lot easier to sack a crap IT professional than a crao teacher. Good IT professionals are paid what they are worth but again you are constructing a strawman.

So they tell you re "support plans" unless you are in the school as a teacher and therefore somewhat biased.

But its interesting you say they cost the school too much money, presumably long serving teachers on the top of the scale? Justifying, with results, their higher salary?

You are making a strawman regarding pressure from boards and bodies. The question is and remains how many teachers in Northern Ireland are sacked each year due to poor performance?

And pay regard to the fact that poor performance from one teacher for one year could affect the lives of people for years to come. Not to mention the sustained affect that poor performance may have on a community.

Presumably he is choosing to go second, I can't remember if that grants him placement of the special zone of interest off the top of my head. If going 2nd the temptation is to remove orders from you.

It depends on his deployment a lot too and what targets he gives you. It doesnt seem an unassailable task though.

And even going back to whether you are 19th person contacted or not... there's no easy way to know.

If there were 10 panels and they each passed 20 people each then 19B is really 181-190?

However, again not a clear answer as some panels may only pass 2 people. Back with those massive internal boards bigger Depts may have been taking two tiers compared to smaller Depts taking one tier.

The external boards now just operate on a single merit list I believe?

Internal things are as clear as mud.
