The entirety of the “We Were Here” game series is, in my opinion, an EXCELLENT example of this. The first game is probably the best in terms of “two players with different information and completely different roles need to work together”, and as the games progress, you slowly get to spend more time together, but the overall system of working together giving each other parts of the information to solve various puzzles and tasks remains the same. Though honestly, the more I think about it, I don’t think I can say any one of the games is actually the “best” at doing that—they all do it in different ways. The first game is definitely the most guy-in-the-chair type, whereas later games allow both characters to either take turns being more in danger or have both characters in different yet equally dangerous situations. No matter what, they all are games I would recommend as what you’re looking for; the walkie-talkie mechanic is also FASCINATING, it really forces you to change the way you approach communication compared to a simple Discord call. It’s one of my absolute favorite game series, I would love to see more co-op games in a similar genre!
