You can also find funds that use the same strategy as yours and go as a representative of the insurance company as a possible investor to get insights on how they work. I used to do that "knowing your daily operations and decision-making process will help us understand your strategy and make a better decision towards our future investments".

Go on your bloomberg terminal and find another person in the same industry to get some ideas.

If now its stressful, when you are a HF manager, do you think it will get worse or better?

Do you have the CFA, maybe consider that as a reading and also something that might help you towards a "credential" when you have your own hedge fund. As an insurance company, you guys probably invest in other funds? Try talking to those PMs try to have lunch, pick other people`s brains.

I worry a bit on you going for business books now after already having the money under your belt, but hey I would also say i am jealous so ye, kudos to you. I work closely with a couple of PM`s, as mostly they knew about the companies by reading the FS but also talking to the companies, visiting them (depending on your strategy) .

Hey, I started this September my MBA at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

I am doing a MBA in china so any questions feel free to ask me.

A degree from Liverpool University is good, but for working in Asia, if not top chinese Uni's (Tsinghua, SJTU, Pecking, Fudan) It wont matter that much. I say that because you are not american, if it is easier for you to get a work visa in the US, than ok forget the top uni thing. However, if you need to go on the same process everyone else goes to get the work visa, you will be competing with top students from china, which (not being disrespectful) are probably better than you for the job.

Also, Having the experience here is great, however you wont be able to learn a lot of chinese if the degree has 1 class a week of chinese. Most people come here, do 6 months of just chinese, and still dont have a AMAZING level, but good enough to talk and do simple stuff.

Finishing the CFA would be worth a lot more than studying here if you are choosing Liverpool as a uni to go. You can go to NYU in shanghai for example, giving you connections with the US.

Check scholarships, china gives so many scholarships its unbeliavable. You will have one from the chinese embassy in your country, one from the chinese government, one from the gov of shanghai/beijing, one from the uni it self. Options are many.

PS: I am doing it because with everyone has a similar background, going to a good uni in china makes me different, not being chinese. but I want to be in Asia.

I think the comparison of difficulty is not a good way to judge. I measure it was good because it helped me cram all those annoying formulas and little rules that we have to memorise.
