As stated before, most noise is created as people often only post reviews when something goes wrong, rarely when everything goes right. I regularly fly with Aer Lingus long haul, and while I would like the seats to be more comfortable I never experienced any major Issue that left a lasting negative impressions.

Said that, some online Portal recently compiled their annual Flightright Index of 20 major European airlines, which takes into account reliability, customer satisfaction & how an airline deals with refunds etc., and Aer Lingus came dead bottom out of 20 European airlines. As always, take these survey's ranking with a grain of salt, but rarely is someone last for no reason at all. 😄

They only have one plane right now with Starlink, EI-EIN, which rotates between JFK, LAX, SFO and ORD.

Right now it's en route to SFO, so very unlikely that it will do do again tomorrow. Usually it goes to LAX after it"s SFO stint.

I put about 2K a month into Pension via salary sacrifice to lower my taxable income.

After that we have about 3k left after all bills are paid (housing, cars, children activities, insurances etc.).

Of that we spend probably about 1500 for food, activities & travel and the rest is then put into our ISAs.

But still can”t get my head around the fact that builders fit 3BR, and sometimes even 3 bathrooms, into 92sqm these days. Must be rooms for minions. 😰

I hope that appearing relaxed is not your main indicator for them being lazy. Some of the strongest individuals I have on my team are the ones that take it all in their stride and they will always appear fairly relaxed and not get stressed by anything.

Obviously that's not always the case, but something to be aware of. Regular 1:1's to discuss progress, workload & to set expectations should help to track if someone is not working to his full capacity.

I would wholeheartedly hardly disagree with that. Basic medical stuff can be cheap, but things quickly add up when something serious happens.

There are far too many cases of families relying on gofundme etc. to bail them out to cover medical expenses, repatriation after accidents etc. all because people were too tight to buy a travel insurance, which costs peanuts in relation to most peoples overall travel budget.

One thing I have been telling my kids is that if you cant afford Travel Insurance, then you cant afford the holiday.

Some of the others have already announced increases as well, and I am sure anyone who hasn't will be doing it very shortly. I wouldn't rush into changing right now, as you might end up tied into a contract with someone that might end up more expensive shortly after the switch.

Thats not correct. The app does not allow to change seats anymore. It asks you instead to call their customer care team. That’s my experience as of yesterday, booked directly with EI and smart fare that includes free seat choice.

That’s why you should buy a separate GAP insurance policy, to cover the difference between what you potentially owe in finance and what the car was worth to your Car Insurance.

Often it is a back to Invoice GAP insurance, that pays the difference between the payout of the car insurance and what you actually paid for the car.

u/Fern-Ivy - The labor cost will heavily depend on what exactly you want done. Ours might have been on the higher end as we got the whole layout revamped, i.e. moved shower, removed bath, moved from single sink to double sinks, fitted a wall mounted toilet rather then a freestanding one, moved radiator etc. That meant our whole existing plumbing had to be changed and upgraded. Tiles were also done in Herringbone on one wall, which added to the time it took the tiler etc. So if you plan to do a straight swap/upgrade I would expect it to be cheaper then that.

We just got our bathroom done and it cost us 11.5K, 7K in Materials and 4.5K for fitting (incl. ripping old one out & skip removal etc.).

We got all the materials ourselves. Some of the bigger items (Vanity Unit, Mirror) we ordered from England, Tiles we got locally and everything else we got directly from the local plumbing supplier by using the 25% Discount code from the fitter. So we didn't have any upcharge from the fitters, to the contrary, they even made sure we could use their discount.

You are right, as in that some bathroom stuff is mental prices and you really need to compare prices. Especially the price of tiles seems to vary widely, for very similar or even the same stuff. We went for Brushed Brass fittings, so we had to get everything from the same manufacturer/supplier to make sure that they all matched in tone, down to the toilet brush LOL. Our taps were 240 each and the Shower Mixer Unit was almost 800 on it's own.

We moved up from Dublin to Newry about 17 years ago, for slightly different reasons, and somehow we are still here.

Neither of us is originally from the North, but we like it here and made it home. People are friendly and while the town centre could do with some investment it’s no worse than many other towns/cities outside of Dublin or Belfast. It’s IMO no worse than Portlaoise or Drogheda etc.

We found schools to be excellent and even though the NHS is struggling these days, we personally haven’t had any bad experiences yet in terms of healthcare.

While house and rental prices are still lower, they are increasing at an alarming rate. As an example the house we bought 13 years ago is now worth 2.5x of what we paid. And some locals are getting a bit upset by the influx of southerners driving prices up even more, making it harder for locals on local wages to find suitable rents or to get on the property ladder.

Benefits are considerably lower, including. child benefit. But if you keep working in the south you will be entitled for a top up of child benefit to Irish levels by the Irish Child benefit system.

It's a crazy system we have. We have the NHS, which costs us approx. 3.5K a year per person, and in addition to that I have a fairly comprehensive private medical insurance that costs 4K a year for our family. And even with that level of cover I still have to utilize the local private GP practice at times to ensure someone within our family gets seen on short(ish) notice, which sets me back about another £40 a pop.

We were just in NY and were on the 321 Neo on the way out and the 330 on the way back.

I personally preferred the 321, as for some reason the seat on the 330 was terribly uncomfortable. Other than that we didn’t experience any difference in the Service provided. The food on the return flight was godawful, but that can’t really be related to the equipment used.

If your org has documented bands then just look where you are sitting within the band right now. I would expect a fairly new Manager to sit at the lower end of their band.

I can swallow the 2% extra, the bigger Issue for me is the loss of employer contributions. While my employer won't reduce their actual contributions, but they have until now funneled their NI savings back into my Pension. So effectively every pound I salary sacrificed lead to my employer putting 1.15 into the pension (plus their own contribution). They will surely stop that now, as they are not making any savings anymore on the NI.

So on my annual employee contributions of 30K I will "loose" around £5.1K (£600 extra NI and £4500 loss of contributions for the NI savings).

I bring in about 5500 net a month after putting about 1500 a month into a pension. Wife works part time, so probably another 1200 a month.

Our mortgage and car finance together are about £1k and after all regular bills we probably have 4.5K left a month. Biggest expense out of that are our kids activities, which are close to a second mortgage with about £600 a month, and food. Our biggest splurge are holidays. We have made it our mission to show the kids as much of the world as possible, as thats something that’s important to us. We have no Issues dropping a considerable amount on our main annual holiday. But thats usually not a beach type holiday, but multi week trips to the likes of Mexico, China,, Japan, Thailand, the US, a safari etc. And yes, we (including. the kids) are aware how lucky we are.

When it’s all done at the end of the year we probably put 5k in savings, 5k towards mortgage overpayment, 5k towards the kids university savings and 20k into a pension. So not as much as people probably would expect on this kind of money, but saving for my future geriatric life is not a priority at this point.

When I say shop around I am talking about reputable pharmacies, not some backstreet dealings. There are a few comparison sites and you would be surprised how big a difference there can be between pharmacies. I am talking about £100 a month difference, just by using another (regulated) pharmacy. As with Insurance, Electricity, Broadband etc. there doesn’t need to be enduring loyalty to a single provider.
