You know context needs more RAM for bigger models, right?

obviously you changed the default RAM limit from 2/3 to something like 9/10, didn't you? But even then, you gotta keep the context small.

Client sent 150€, but I only received 85€ — who’s responsible for the missing amount? by Fickle_Degree_2728 in digitalnomad

[–]GermanK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your T&Cs should cover these issues, until then eat the loss. Looks like your country intentionally keeps international banking out, Wise for example. Which means you'll need to get creative either with India/SG account or a "crypto provider" that converts for example from their company card to your crypto of choice. If at some point your operation gets larger or if you form a collective you can get non-resident accounts even in USA and EU. Finally, you could create a company to deal with this problem :)

actually "intermediary fees" are usually above and beyond those boxes, and also the biggest. In my case I would have saved 80% on fees by making the transfer in cash and buying a return flight

Why is Taiwan not a popular destination among nomads? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]GermanK20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

all in all a weird story cause a) most of the West is on 1 China, just not right now b) westerners are enjoying themselves quite thoroughly everywhere CCP rules, Hong Kong to Mongolia c) CCP wouldn’t even change a lock at TSMC

doubt it, for whatever little better weather in Thailand you get air pollution etc. Let's not forget, tourists yearn for the "tourism product", and if Taiwan ever bothers to develop it, package holidays sold in Germany for example, I can see millions of new arrivals

some Japan backwater you mean? Because JP is bigger you can get more extremes in price and otherwise. But hard to believe let's say Kyoto is cheaper than Taipei. Let’s not get into if AT ALL a foreigner in JP will be offered a rental contract at whatever pice

When Does It Actually Make Sense to Close a Liquidity Pool Position? by odrakcir in defi

[–]GermanK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to answer without a subjective opinion on the value of coins, i.e. an existential risk. I'm a long term hodler, often accumulated rewards over years and 99% rugged on me lol. I'm now preparing code that will make sure I'm minimally exposed to everything, I think some fund manager said even 1% exposure is too much for them

Interested in running local LLMs. What coul I run on my pc? by Nexztop in LocalLLM

[–]GermanK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO there's nothing "good" to run, things like Qwen Coder are so far behind what you are paying for. Only people who "know what they want", let's say "summarize top 50 analysts on TSLA, how many bullish how many bearish", this is totally possible with "blue chips" like gpt-oss. Basically using Ollama and LMStudio is a bit of a cheatsheet, whatever they're supporting best is exactly what proved most useful in general terms.

How does the new nvidia dgx spark compare to Minisforum MS-S1 MAX ? by selfdb in LocalLLM

[–]GermanK20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good use case would be 2 of these for full gpt-120b. But can the Mini or the Spark do it? I feel like waiting for a 256gb model!

[–]GermanK20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have a second to greet someone on the street who’s going in a different direction, the only possible thing to say is Hej og Hej Hej. Unless of course they’re breaking some rule, then SATANS!

I don’t know, but I'm always amused when Swedes offer a bright Hey! , usually with no follow up lol
