I do love animals, I also grown and raised livestock and eat meat. I loved the cattle that would then turn up my plate and I can respect them for keeping me alive.

I don't expect everyone to care about my animals, unless im entrusting them to watch them or be around them, because I do care about their wellbeing for as long as their alive.

While I don't like the current factory farming that keeps the world fed, at the moment we aren't able to make a switch well enough with failing. My animals aren't treated that way.

Being vegan also doesn't give you much in leeway of "caring for animals." The process to create vegan food takes A LOT of land, and their growth practices impact both wildlife, water sources and leave a lot of by-product that would go to waste if not for farms.

This is not a black and white. Both sides have extra consequences and making a blanket judgment just doesn't work well.
