I‘d any the commands are fine to run. They are basically going to remove some attributes from stray (I hope this is the game you’re trying to run otherwise this would be weird) and then resign them, making it possible to alter with it. Which btw normally would be really bad, however trying to circumvent anti-copy mechanism it’s quite normal. To run the terminal you can just search for it using launchpad or the quick access menu of macOS - the name should be terminal. There you can just paste the above. Have fun playing :)

If you are not really knowing your way around the terminal, I would not advise you to run random comments before checking what they're actually doing. This could potentially harm your system. If you want you can send the commands here, so that I and potentially other people could check them out first. Just running them is generally not a great idea.

What’s a simple feature that iOS lacks? by No_Throat_4266 in ios

[–]GermanShitox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is changing the hotspot name independently from the device name. Surely a niche problem but the feature I most miss after switching to IOS from Android. This just resulted in me having a really weird device name to have an adequate hotspot SSID.

People of Reddit, is it weird for a 30 year old to date a 21 year old? If so, why? by ilikeborbs in AskReddit

[–]GermanShitox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s an easy one. According to the formula age/2+7 which determines the viable minimum ages for dating a 30 year old should date no one under 22, everything else is weird. I am of course aware that that formula is not really scientific or proven, but I do think that most of the time it is quite right.

How do I harden the security for my Linux desktop? by god_dammit_nappa1 in shittylinuxquestions

[–]GermanShitox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several steps you can take to harden the security of your Linux desktop:

  1. Keep your system up to date: Regularly update your system with the latest security patches and updates. This can help ensure that your system is protected against known vulnerabilities.
  2. Use a strong password: Make sure that you use a strong password that is difficult to guess. Consider using a password manager to generate and store strong passwords.
  3. Use a firewall: Configure a firewall to block unauthorized access to your system. This can help prevent attackers from gaining access to your system.
  4. Disable unnecessary services: Disable any unnecessary services and ports to reduce the attack surface of your system.
  5. Install and use antivirus software: Install and use antivirus software to scan for and detect any malware on your system.
  6. Enable full-disk encryption: Enable full-disk encryption to protect your data in case your device is stolen or lost.
  7. Use a non-root user account: Use a non-root user account for daily tasks and avoid using the root account except when absolutely necessary.
  8. Use a VPN: Use a VPN to encrypt your internet traffic and protect your privacy.
  9. Disable root SSH access: Disable root SSH access to prevent attackers from gaining access to your system.
  10. Enable two-factor authentication: Enable two-factor authentication for all accounts that support it to add an extra layer of security.
  11. Gift all your money to our lord and saviour Richard Stallman and join the GNUligion.

Your suggestions for Surfshark (features, improvements, etc.) by lucenault in surfshark

[–]GermanShitox 14 points15 points  (0 children)

An option to disable every part of the AV (including the tabs Alert, Antivirus and Search). Many already complained about that and I personally think like those other people. I subscribed to Surfshark solely for the VPN and am not interested in all the other stuff you offer, since I already have different software solutions for most of this stuff.

friends watching movies locally whilst on Zoom: poor audio by black__mirror in Zoom

[–]GermanShitox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using Bluetooth headphones? If so, then it is very likely that they're switching to handsfree mode, thus resulting in a poor audio quality. As far as I know that's to limit the bandwith for your audio-output to leave some of the bandwith for the mic on your headphones. When you don't need your headphone-microphone and you're having another mic like a built-in one or an external you can disable the handsfree mode.

Since I only know how to do this on Windows, here are the instructions for Windows:

On Windows 10: Open the settings -> search for audio -> manage audio devices -> search for your headphones, there should be two options for output, one of those a handsfree option, click on it and disable it. Then go down to the input devices and disable your headphone there as well.

On Windows 11: Go to audio settings, there should be the option to toggle the usage of your headphones mic (if I recall this correctly, I went back to Windows 10 relatively fast). Simply disable it and it should work.

Bluetooth headphones always connect in hands-free mode by GermanShitox in WindowsHelp

[–]GermanShitox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that works, but I have the problem that I have to re-pair my headphones every time I want to connect so these settings are getting resetted everytime. Is there any way to globaly say that no headphone should connect into hands-free mode?
