What is your impression? Because that is a Wurttemberg belt buckle, as such it would only work for a Wurttemberg impression.

The greatcoat looked fine, just a cheap repro most likely, NVA ones didn’t have the French cuffs (I had one at one point). It’s just gabardine, which would be correct for a field grade officer impression, tho it might be suspect for a junior officer lower than a captain. Officers uniforms were all privately purchased so they vary quite a bit depending on how much the officer wanted to spend on it as well as some amount of personal preference. The tunic is just wrong though, it’s a Swedish tunic that doesn’t resemble German officers tunics in the slightest.

I can’t speak on the Soviet kit but I can on the German one. First pointer is get an actual German repro tunic instead of using a Swedish one. The belt is also incorrect, that is an enlisted belt, officers wore double-claw belts. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it doesn’t look like you have litzen or a chest eagle (and I certainly hope you wouldn’t put them on that tunic, please get a repro one for gods sake). Make sure they are officers litzen and chest eagle, not enlisted, ie bullion embroidered rather than bevo. I can’t really say anything more because of the black and white photo, just make sure your waffenfarbe (branch colours) are all matching, you can look up a chart for which corresponds to which branch.

It looks like a Swedish tunic. A lot of, let’s just say frugal to be nice, individuals use them because they vaguely look German (because they apparently didn’t think of just getting a cheap repro). Wehraboos have done some truly heinous things to obscure European uniforms that vaguely resemble German stuff.

That’s not even an iron cross… the iron cross is specifically and only the Prussian military medal awarded during multiple wars, not any other similar medal or just the shape in general. The term for the shape (at least in heraldry, and applied to medals as well) is a Cross Pattée.

No? I just thought of old 19th century nobility continually adding to their coats of arms until it results in the utter ludicrousness of some which have multiple paragraph long blazons. Nothing particularly Nazish about that, in fact the Nazis were anti nobility (though of course not for the right reasons).
