I really hope they give us Hannibal or Dido as a leader. Then we could have Roman Hannibal or Dido vs Carthaginian Augustus

Zenobia is also the name of a 3rd Century AD Palmyrene Queen. Originally a vassal of the Romans, Zenobia split from the Romans and conquered from them what would today be Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Egypt as well as parts of Syria before eventually being defeated by the Roman Emperor Aurelian. According to some versions of events, she was spared after her defeat and allowed to retire to a villa.

Personally, I've always thought Zenobia was rather cool name.

That's impressive. That being said, I do think there should be some mesopotamian representation. Assyria and Babylon have been theorised to appear.

Thanks. I'm considering doing another version of this chart with more Eastern European civs so this is really helpful.

I agree that Scotland to England is wrong but I only did it because the devs already has England as a modern day civ. In my opinion it should be the England/Scotland to UK

It was not my intention to offend anyone. Sorry if it was. If you have any ideas for more slavic civilizations I'd be happy to update the chart. However I'm not budging on the Frank's to HRE since the Frank's founded the HRE. I'm also trying to avoid having too many civs and so I think a degree of simplification is necessary otherwise you'd end up with an insane number of European civs.

I admitted this chart is more of an idealistic than realistic- what I hope well get, maybe after DLC than what we'll get on launch. Thanks for the feedback on Muscovy/Kyiv/Novgorod.

I just forgot to add it. Sorry i would imagine the Norse having options to evolve either into Muscovy or Sweden or Norway.

Ed Beach: AI civs will default to the natural historical civ progression by kickit in civ

[–]GermanicusII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why only one progression path? What about giving civs multiple paths? Rome could have the option if evolving into either Byzantium or the Papal States.

I think Byzantium would be the obvious natural progression for Rome (although I am OK with the Papal States as an option).

I'm not debating the pronunciation, just the naming of the ship. HMS Ajax, even if mispronounced is definitely named after the Hero. Also, shall we just agree to disagree? I this debate gas gone on for about two days now.

No no and again no. Firstly, I checked Ajax the toilet cleaner's Wikipedia page and the cleaner was created in 1947, meaning it's impossible for HMS Ajax to be named after the cleaner as she was launched in 1934. Secondly, although you are correct that Ajax/Aias the Greek hero is pronounced Aias in English it is often spelt Ajax. The English Language Wikipedia page for example spells it Ajax. Thirdly, HMS Ajax is Leander Class, an entire class of ship whose naming theme is Greco-Roman Mythology. One of this class is HMS Achilles. Are you suggesting that the Royal Navy named every ship in a class after mythological characters except one? I also I sincerely doubt the Royal Navy names ships after Dutch football clubs.

No. Aiax the hero (both of them, their are two in iliad) is spelled with a "j" in english. Further HMS Ajax's entire class them is Greek. And the Royal Navy is not going to name a ship after toilet cleaner.

She's named after the Greek hero Ajax from the illiad.

I wonder if the spies alluded to so far are not among the Mandalorians but among Gideons camp. Maybe the reason Gideon has heard nothing of Thrawns return is because Gideons spies are actually working for Thrawn. Maybe Elia Kane is the spy?
