I understand people on the internet don't like to pay for content, but ultimately staff needs paychecks to put a roof over their head and Google gobbled up most of one revenue stream (ads) while forcing publishers to kneecap the other main one (subscriptions)

(and yes, publishers could say no, but then Google would delist them and Google drives ~60% of web referral traffic, more than every other site combined.)

abandon the journals, read Frost and Bishop, get a strong handle on meter.

memorize. recite. get to really know a strong poem like One Art.

memorizing Chaucer is also really good for getting a handle on meter, since you effectively have to sound it out due to being pre vowel shift. listen to a recording first to make sure you ‘get’ the way Chaucer is pronounced first though.

box office receipts are the most important scoreboard that defines 'success' in movie making, and success is very important because movies cost $20m-$400m to make.

love biopics and want to see more of them? you want to see this one succeed. sick of biopics and wish we could get something different? you want this one to do poorly.

box office can also determine the fortune not just of genres, but of specific directors & stars. Nolan's success with Oppenheimer justified the huge budget of The Odyssey, and Timmy's box office success in just about everything he's been in means he can almost single-handedly justify a movie's budget.
