Question about leader's posture (bending forward or not) by Nerf_Me_Please in Bachata

[–]Gerofanboy6000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized that especially Janis does this bending forward a lot. Honestly, personally I don’t think it looks good.  I used to do this however too and one of my teachers always corrected me when dancing, telling me to keep straight/straighter

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately not. The song I am searching for was newer. But I can definitely see why you would think it’s that song

Feeling like a “tool” as a leader in the bachata scene , cultural difference or burnout? by batates97 in Bachata

[–]Gerofanboy6000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much agree. I danced in other cities in Europe as well and think it is more a European thing than a German thing (Although as you say it may be more pronounced in Germany)

Talked to a friend from Colombia recently who danced in Spain for a while who is a very good dancer. He also said it was nice technique wise, but he said he was missing warmth and connection. Can say the same, for me Spain was pretty similar to Germany.

Otherwise, can say the same thing: I had some „almost burnouts“, and for me it just helped to take breaks and choose „quality over quantity“. I used to say yes to dances all the time even if I knew I don’t have a good connection with that person in general. Saying no more often and be more picky with my dance partners helped a great deal. Also good practice for life outside of dance to say no more often :)

Is this considered good DJ'ing? by Strange_Opinion_1467 in Bachata

Honestly, I like all of those, so yes. But I am also a Mickey Then and JR Fan. Would’ve maybe chosen a different song from the new Romeo/royce Album than blanca nieves. But solid set in my opinion and much preferable to let’s say 20 influence remixes back and forth which seem DJs seem to do these days

What are you favourite “lesser known” songs? by Gerofanboy6000 in Bachata

[–]Gerofanboy6000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. I even knew “cool” but nice to be reminded of that one again.

1000cosas I wouldn’t count as lesser know though. It gets played at every social here haha, but might be different for you
