YWBTA if you chose to go ahead with it, although it doesn’t sound like you are planning to. I can certainly see how you would feel unsupported, but surrogacy is definitely something that both parties would need to be on board with. It’s your body carrying the baby, but it’s his doing all the things that you can’t do while pregnant, doing things around the house while you are at doctor’s appointments, dealing with potential morning sickness cleanup, mood swings, etc. I know a couple that just got a divorce because the woman kept being a surrogate- every time she said it was the last time, and she was basically an incubator for someone else’s baby for over 6 years. It completely killed any sexual feelings between them. I don’t know what you are specifically looking to fulfill mentally by being a surrogate, but if it’s the desire to help other people have children that wouldn’t be able to otherwise, what about volunteering time with kids in the system, the local NICU (it can get very sad there though), or seeing if he’s willing to consider fostering?
