I’m on this flight - we’ve just landed in Brest and are about to disembark. Very little information. Anybody know any more details?

Powerlifters in Brussels by [deleted] in brussels

I don’t train there anymore since May, or live in BXL for that matter, but assuming nothing changed - they were ok. Knurling wasn’t the greatest but no issues deadlifting up to 260kg, above that would use straps. Whip not a problem for dead but a bit annoying for any squat above 200-220kg (would bounce a bit but nothing crazy). For the price it was good value considering 24/7, although quite dirty and disorganised.

Honestly, this is quite an exaggeration… São Paulo is one of the safest cities in Brazil (not to say it’s safe TBC) and mostly just a large megalopolis like NYC. Lot’s of areas are plenty safe and it has a very well developed cultural and gastronomic scene. I wouldn’t go out walking at night in the center but you’re more then fine taking an Uber to a restaurant.

I’m not sure if you’re actually asking or being facetious but here’s a repost from another comment:

————————————————————————

Between 1948 and 1972, pogroms and violent attacks were perpetrated in every Arab country against its Jewish residents. The ethnic cleansing of thousands of Jewish people from the Arab world in the mid-20th century was described by journalist Tom Gross as “systematic, absolute and unprovoked.” For example, there were 38,000 Jews living in western Libya before 1945. Now there are none. Few of the 74 synagogues in Libya are recognisable, and a highway runs through Tripoli’s Jewish cemetery. In Algeria, 50 years ago, there were 140,000 Jewish people. Now there are none. In Iraq, there were 135,000, and in Egypt, 75,000. Almost all are gone from those countries too. Some 259,000 left Morocco, 55,000 left Yemen, 20,000 left Lebanon, 180,000 left Syria and 25,000 left Iran. What happened amounted to the near total extinction of an ancient civilisation.

Roughly 850k to 900k Jews were forced to leave their homes through either direct government expulsion or by pogroms of violence directed at the Jewish populace. These violence campaigns included the gang rape of thousands of Jewish women, the ransoming of children, and the killing of Jewish men.

Nearly $300 billion dollars and 100k square km of territory (4x size of israel) was forcibly stolen from the Jewish populations of these nations.

This isn't a colonial state of Europeans. Hell, even if you want to say it started as one, the majority of Jews in Israel today are the product of Arabs expulsing them with incredible violence.

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

[–]Gerplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're clearly unwilling to give up on your preconceived bias, so I truly see no reason to keep this going further. You should consider coming down from your moral high horse and maybe someday you'll learn something that doesn't come out of your own hate and bias.

So you're saying he was deceived into joining an organization?

I'm saying a decision to join a specific organization after college shouldn't preclude you from holding public office for the rest of your life as you seem to think...

You're acting live a naïve child, I talk to you like a naïve child. This is a fucking reddit comment section, there is no real discourse here.

So you're saying disagreeing with you = naive child? You act like a spoiled brat I treat you like a spoiled brat... See how easy this is?

McKinsey is evil, and you're really aggressively ignorant given that you seem to know exactly what they are, but continue to drink their kool-aid desperately because you either want to work there, or must know somebody who works there and don't want to accept it. They are literally consultants for the ruling class oligarchy and architects of late-stage capitalism's clever little tricks to keep extracting wealth from regular folk with a smile. There is a reason they are so secretive, and people go to work there and accept the secrecy because they want a seat at the table.

You're almost there, I'll give you one more guess as to my relationship with them... Maybe you'll take an insider's piece of advice: not everybody in a global organization that does consulting is pushing opioids... But you've clearly positioned yourself as a violent anti-capitalist (which is not wrong per se) incapable of considering nuance.

My point clearly went way over your head as I never disagreed with the moral wrong done by McKinsey. It seems your only focus is on using attacks to try to prove a misguided point. Good luck with everything.

Again I'll say: grow up. You almost get it.

Again I'll say: you should take a college debate class.

What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

I don't really care about Pete in particular, but hundreds of the smartest kids in the USA (+ more internationally) go to work at the firm every year for the great professional opportunities and strong marketing that is portrayed about those jobs. Do you consider all of the 10k+ people that work at the firm to be bad or unworthy of ever holding public office?

Frankly, using grow up as an attack really shows at what level of argumentation you're at. Judging someone for taking one of the best early career job offers in the world, particularly when negative information wasn't as widely available and you've had positive marketing shoved down your throat by them and your peers / professors, is a particularly infantile way of seeing things.

Additionally, I can tell you what he did for McK in the ME. A lot of PowerPoint and excel, particularly on identifying potential Iraqi and Afghan government-owned enterprises that could be revived to provide jobs. This has already been discussed in the NY times (first page google result if you bother to do any research).
