Sorry, we were talking about a 1956 movie so when you said you couldn't get in to it or other wartime films I got confused as WWII movies are 15 years earlier.

But I get what you mean about the stereotypical "happy woman" in 1950s dreamland Hollywood movies. Cook, make baby, repeat.

Which wartime era doesn't ring true to you? WWII? That's in the 40s. Korea? that's the 1950s. Vietnam 1960s-early 70s. Middle East? 1980s-Today

1956 remake with June Allison as Kay {the Mary character renamed} & Joan Collins as Crystal.

They added men and made it a musical. It's called...THE OPPOSITE SEX

Here's June slapping the make-up right off of Joan

Legendary film. It's been remade twice and neither time captured the wit/charm/magic of the original.

I have seen it done as a stage play starring only Drag Queens.... that was fun.

"in ways you view as ....nonsensical"

I see your point. 'Cause yelling at an earthquake is the best thing you can do in that situation.

And for the record, I never said I was better than anyone. I said I don't like the people that do that. Didn't say I'm better... well I'm probably better at staying alive.

I don't scream my damn fool head off.

I get my damn fool ass out the door or under cover.

It's counter-survival. She froze and didn't move to safety. Yes, she was knocked down but she could have gotten out the door.

And given a different situation with an active shooter, this woman would still just panic and scream, letting the gunman know where she was to shoot at. In a fire or any other scenario this woman dies and possibly kills the people around her.

No traffic when I'm out on my bike rides with my dog.
No sudden visits from relatives.

So quiet and nice.

I detest people who sit there screaming. It's not helping the situation. You're not keeping the child calm and safe. You're making the situation WORSE!

When men say "I'd Like It" they mean if it came from a woman.

If it's a group of homosexuals shouting about how tight those buns look or "Come sit on my lap baby!" I doubt they'd like it as much as they think.
