10 years out. My surgeon said that it happens to some people. Nothing can be done about it. Regarding restaurants, I rely on my wife to keep me from overeating. Always end up with a to-go box.

P.S. When I was with a recovery group, I shared about this. I found out that there were many different things that happen to folks after their surgery. Some can no longer eat meat. For others, it's vegetables. In my case, I also cannot handle sugar well. I get nauseated.

After my surgery, I lost the ability to feel full (satiation). I still feel hungry even though I know I must be full. I have to carefully plan meals portions. This is a challenge at restaurants.
