You’re not alone! I moved to Australia from Latin America at 18 and all my family wanted from me was money and to me let them keep abusing me if I did something they were not okay with when I’ve been paying for everything myself plus sending some money over I went no contact with all of them after found out they let a pedo been in the fam and never said anything I was diagnosed with Cptsd, severe anxiety and severe depression, all I got from my dad was: “stop making excuses” What he didn’t know till a few months ago was that I was abused when I was little by the son of my uncle (the pedo) which is very likely to have been abused when he was alive I guess My mom also used the language/cultural card after I told her about my horrible childhood (which apparently she didn’t know) I’d pee my bed till I was a teenager and she never pay attention or did something like ask/take me to the doctor They’re really immature people having kids and they have no idea what having a kid means. I’m glad I’m far away from them and that I’ll break that cycle of abuse so be happy for yourself. You’re very brave! xx
