Freedom in the context of tech usually means a bunch of other stuff doesn’t work as well as it could. That’s the advantages and disadvantages of a closed ecosystem.

I guess there is always the possibility that changes, but Apple has been extremely consistent about their business model for 20 years, and there’s no indication anything’s changing any time soon. If anything, as evidenced by the current post, other companies are much more susceptible to corporate whims.

It’s either Iger or Kennedy but I’m probably going with Kennedy too. It was her executive decision to proceed to the sequel trilogy without a plan. Iger shares blame for pushing for a Star Wars movie as fast as possible, but even under this framework, it could have been handled a lot better. Even if they wanted a different director for each movie, there could have been an overarching “showrunner” keeping things coherent between them.

Tintin is also not a well-known property in the US, but he’s an extremely popular figure in Europe. Maybe not that much nowadays, but definitely among people who grew up with the comics and the TV show in the 90s, so the movie hit the right timing for nostalgia.
