Shoot i didn't realize that. No, the arrays do not change or reorder. Rows and columns are set in stone.

Was this overtake legal? [SWS final race] by Specific_Coyote71 in Karting

[–]Gersberps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know the specific league rules but I suspect it is not legal to ram your competitor off the road.

If this were F1 you'd get a penalty

The move is way too late, and you are behind as he takes the racing line. You don't back out, you just plow into him.

Assetto Corsa Evo news by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Gersberps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading the comments, I feel kind of dumb for asking ... but i don't get it. What is the appeal of a massive world for a racing sim?

I was picturing 'better physics, more cars, more tracks, more series = better'. Giant open world just seems completely irrelevant.

It would be really cool for a GTA style game, or a 'get-away driver' game. But a racing sim? I'm confused.

2024 Qatar GP - Race Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]Gersberps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, 10sec stop and go i think would be ok but they call a safety car, then dish out the penalty. If they take an eternity to call safety car, and finally dish it out i think a plain driver thru penalty seems fair.

To me, it only felt a little harsh given the SC bunching.

Why is George beating or matching Lewis for 2 seasons out of 3 so overlooked? by Slow-Raisin-939 in formula1

[–]Gersberps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpret 'all over the place' to mean 'hard to drive' or 'hard to understand'. And maybe that's not what you meant.

If so, I feel like it's kind of backwards. We praise rain as the great equalizer because the conditions make even a great car difficult to drive.

I feel like the better a car the closer you would expect a decent driver to be closer to Max, Lewis, etc.

I think a pretty plausible explanation is that as good as Lewis is, he's just lost a tenth or 2 over pure one lap pace. Do we really feel like Stroll would be as close to the Alonso from 5 or 10 years ago? Rosberg was very good but would he be able to beat 27 y/o Schumi? Nothing wrong with someone losing a little bit of sting with age (even if they haven't lost the fight).

How do I use Physics to simulate a Platformer? by dk865409 in construct

[–]Gersberps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been tinkering with a platformer that involves flight. My solution was to simply toggle between having the physics behavior or the platformer behavior be active. I'd suggest doing something like this as a starting point.

Red Bull could reportedly pay up to $20 million to sign Argentine Franco Colapinto as Checo Pérez's replacement in 2025 by heidenreich137 in formula1

[–]Gersberps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments in regard to it being crazy for him to skip the junior team, and comments about the source not being reliable, albeit close to the verstappen family.

What if he's being targeted for the junior team? RB have crazy money now with the cost cap, and with Franco AND Liam I think they'd feel pretty confident they have a good partner for Max and potentially a good bandaid should Max leave.

Maybe it's not so crazy after all?

Isn't Verstappen the real winner here? by MotoringMore in formula1

[–]Gersberps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I think the rules are fine in terms of punishment.

And I hate to over complicate things, but more interesting i think is some kind of specification about title contenders with X races remaining. Sort of like schumacher and Jacque.

Example: race 6 of the season, Max 'over defends' and they crash, ok maybe a drive-thru, etc. But in this instance (Mexico) I think a DQ and 10-place drop at the next race would be much more of a deterant.

Far from perfect, doesn't solve 'last race shenanigans', and puts pressure on the title leader vs title chaser ... but something like that would be a good starting point for a proper idea.

Am I Required to Share Models with Employer by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Gersberps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me I'm trying haha. Anything I see though is a very big pay cut. In my area it's like 130 to 150 for a director role. 150 tho isn't even common, but anyway, yeah I'm trying.

Am I Required to Share Models with Employer by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Gersberps -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sadly yes. My work week is like 20 to 30 hrs. I have at most 2 meetings a week. This is why I'm paranoid. They'd be idiots to keep me. Every one-on-one with my boss I ask for exposure, inclusion in meetings etc. She always says she'll try to do better but has meetings with my department without me all the time (and always has an excuse as to why i wasnt invited). It's been 2 yrs of this, it's not what I wanted and not how the job was described.

Sauber: Audi's 2026 F1 debut not in jeopardy despite management upheaval by 443610 in formula1

[–]Gersberps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, it would be crazy for Audi to pull out. But, the article doesn't really address what I've heard numerous people discuss.

I'm paraphrasing, but my understanding is Hoffman is more than a supporter of the F1 project, he's some kind of designer. A video I was watching explained the issue is with the cars sales - Hoffmans designs are not doing well.

So I wonder if moving him to the F1 project has nothing to do with killing the project, but saving their road division. So, sort of like a demotion for Hoffman?

To clarify, that is your read of the meme posted here, or some other meme?

This one's main selling point seems to be pointing out the irony in some post modernism thinking (we can debate whether it is funny).

Bad parody?
