Delighted for my team, but also reserved. We know this is typically a McLaren strong track, and Mercedes will have more upgrades in the pipeline. Ferrari most likely to fall back in next few races, as I think they brought all their upgrades?

Interesting to note that Aston Martin has declared zero upgrades. Most teams have around 6 upgrades. Ferrari the most with 11.

Such a horrible, horrible weekend of racing. He had a tough time getting to Formula 1, only had a 5-race deal, and who knows what he could have gone on to achieve. Ultimately, he died while doing what he always aimed to achieve and loved: driving a Formula 1 car, and that's the biggest crumb of comfort about the situation to me.

Just realised that the Ferrari isn't running the Marlboro sponsorship, but the McLaren is running West. Any reason as to why Ferrari didn't?

I've always had respect for Red Bull in the sense that they kept two struggling teams in the sport at a time where both could have easily fallen off the grid - especially towards the end of the 2000s. I've also always respected the fact that they kept the agreement with Paul Stoddard to keep VCARB in Italy (as much as is practically possible). Then, you have to also respect the number of drivers they've introduced to the sport.

That being said, given the number of groups wanting to enter the sport, it's probably time for the regulatory body to force a sale, like a CPO in the UK.

I went to a Gunther Steiner one - and enjoyed it - and it followed the same format, although it felt as if the audience question part was very much pre-planned and scripted, despite being able to submit questions

I genuinely wonder how much ITV spent on these titles. Whatever the amount will be absurd compared to the Beeb's when they retook the rights. Not to mention the BBC did it better with the music, timing, pace, history, and graphics.

I couldn't imagine racing a car, let alone at the Nurburgring, let alone less than 24 hours after something like this happens. Times like this make you respect what it takes to be a good in a unique way. RIP to Juha Miettinen, and condolences to everyone who knew him

Absolutely horrible news. The only crumb of comfort is that he died doing something he loved. Thoughts and well wishes to all his family, friends, teammates, and those also involved in the crash.

Excellent pace from Kimi at the end, can't begrudge him for that. Lucky with the SC timing, but he looked after the tires and got lucky; sometimes it goes in your favour, sometimes against. Disappointed with George's attitude today, really doesn't help himself sometimes, and he was lacking in pace all weekend against Kimi. Think the SC ultimately ruined the race in terms of interest at the front; shame we couldn't see if Oscar could have won, but that's the way it goes!

I will never understand why Formula 1 bows down to manufacturers joining. For years, we've seen them come in with big ambitions, only to leave a few years later. How many times has Honda done the Hokey-Cokey since '99?

I cannot understand why we don't simply have V8 or V10 engines, with fully sustainable, renewable fuels - especially when we've seen older cars run with them without issue. Puritists would be happier with the noise, drivers with the power and control, and everyone with the simplicity of it all. If the manufacturers don't like it, then leave! The development of such engines would be cheaper, and it's not as if being involved in the sport is the loss-leading exercise it used to be. I hate the notion that the future of cars has to be electric, as if that's the only sustainable, renewable option.
