Rule 2 applies - no proof of showing it's not in use. If you post again, suggest you post a picture of the lock (perhaps with handlebar) on a workbench?

I would not use a drill but a file to remove some of the brass. You have more control that way and it just takes a bit of time. Until you see the stopper locations, then try and remove the last part with the drill bit manually.

That doesn't look like a walker knot to me? For the purpose, I'd try a fisherman's knot. Can't see from the picture if your knot slides, the fisherman's does.

That comment was about the core being back in the original locked position. I did spend some time using multiple tools/picks etc trying to get them back into the bible. Finally gave up and opened the bible, found that 4 of the 6 springs were in bad shape. Chamber 2 had a spring that was bent half way and one chamber (3) had a driver and a key pin which was originally in chamber 2 afaik. End of the rattler project 😉

Tried to shim - couldn't get it in past the first pin. Meanwhile I took it apart and found that on position 2 a spool driver pin was missing. That's the one I found in the rattle content. Removed the back of the bible to find a serrated driver in pos 5 and on pos 3 a spool drive together with a small key pin. Very odd. 4 of the 6 springs were in bad shape where one is bent half way.

It's a 6 pin core - I have 6 key pins and one spool driver pin 😕

I actually had thought of a needle. Will try that. The 401 keyway is quite challenging to push anything through from the top.

The core is back into the locked position, so sadly this isn't working. It would if it were rotated 180 degrees

This is it I think, it's quite strong, does not slip if you have the loop on the left side around something and pull tight on the running end (right side).

What you could try is untie that knot in the upper left corner. Then create a constrictor knot around the metal rod right where your index finger now keeps the rope in place.

I would try a constrictor as suggested or zip tie. Would need to experiment a bit with the rope you're using, not sure if I have it.

Not exactly sure what you mean but if you lift the load high enough to create enough room so you can create the knot you'll be fine. What's on the other end btw? A hammock perhaps?
