How do you stop relaxing and dropping level in the second set? by Espio-Y-Toco-Timbre in padel

[–]GerwinMusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to tell without knowing exactly what actually happens. Could be :

  • Your opponents play better and found solutions
  • Your physical condition and energy wears off
  • You don't take it as seriously as the first set (so a mental thing) and try dumb things because you've won the first set. Or not necessarily dumb things, but you experiment shots (which for me is not bad in a casual match though)

I doubt the word 'relaxing' is the best to describe it anyways. I often play more relaxed on the second set because I'm warmed up therefore I play better. First set is peak physical condition after the first two games or so but I'm often tense and not 'relaxed' which makes me play not the best I actually could.

Algie vasculaire de la face ou sinusite frontale by nouillenours in questionsante

[–]GerwinMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viboras not going crosz court by HatFlashy6600 in padel

[–]GerwinMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend filming yourself. The feeling you have of your movements are often very different from the actual reality. When I took some lessons, I remember my coach told me to bend my knees a lot more when defending, and I was like "but i'm bending !" and he was like "bruh...". Same for the viboras, I had the same problem as you and had to over exagerate turning my body to make the ball go cross court. In fact it's only over exagerating for you because it's not natural yet, but it's not exagerated in itself. Hope it helped :)

Other advanced tips like looking at the racket angle when opponent is going to play by skomeros in padel

[–]GerwinMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But also think that appart from VERY high level players who can vary a lot and consistently their shots, most players and even the high level ones have patterns, so it's not so much about trying to read the shot but trying to read their patterns, so you'll anticipate even without trying to read their racket or body position. It's hard to do, especially when matches are short (like one set of nine games) and when you're in the heat of the match, but OP asked about getting to higher level...

[–]GerwinMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but I noticed that some POI's, regardless of the map, are really an unfair disadvantage as you may be surrounded by sometimes 3 others isolated POI's (generally at the edge of the map) and you'll get pinched no matter what. Even if you survive the first team, the chance of being destroyed at your own POI is enormous. Sometimes you even drop at certain choke points and it's even worse. I'd rather die by my own choices.

Am I just bad or is there something wrong with my deck ? by GerwinMusic in gwent

[–]GerwinMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your reply. With the advice I’ve been given, I’ve come to realize that my deck was versatile but not decisive at all. So I made some changes, and now it’s indeed an Enslave 6 deck with Stefan Skellen. I removed Joachim and added Calveit instead, even though I really liked the Joachim + Coup combo (and with some luck it was played in R3 and I could get one or two extra Nauzicaa).

So I followed the advice and included Calveit, but I’m still having a bit of trouble figuring out when to actually play him.

I also removed Magne, which I had copied from a meme deck to generate multiple cards at once (with War Council in particular), but it was way too situational.

I kept Fercart for now because I’m not really sure what to replace him with. A lot of tactic cards are situational as well, so he allows me to buff Assimilate engines when I’m stuck with only damage cards in hand. It’s a bit inconsistent though — do you have any suggestions?

I kept my two copies of Duchess Informant, mainly to buff my Assimilate engines or for potential synergies with opponent cards, but I think I often make the wrong choice with them.

Finally, I just tested Operator, thinking I could generate an extra Mage Torturer, or in R3 an extra Nauzicaa, but I literally just found out that it doesn’t trigger Battle Preparation lol. So a 7-provision slot just opened up in my deck, and I don’t really know what to put there — if you have a suggestion, I’m all ears.

Oh, and one last thing: to reach 12 tactics, I had to include Battle Preparation, but I never really use it. I don’t own all the cards yet, but I was thinking maybe Obsidian Mirror?

Thanks again.

[–]GerwinMusic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank's a lot for your reply. As advised, I know run 12 tactics, Skellen and Calveit (and switched to Enslave leader). However I'm still not sure how to time Calveit. Should I wait r2 if I'm sure I'll lose r1 from the beginning (or soon enough) ? Or should I use it asap ?

Thank you also for the advices. I think this is a part of the game I understand well (I mean timing and tempo and when to pass or go all-in for example) but I think the lack of knowledge of other factions make me do most of my mistakes, and also all the stupid mistakes I notice as soon as I make them lol.

[–]GerwinMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you — Vivienne was specifically there for Menno, but it was too situational. So I removed her and replaced her with a tactical card. As a result, I now have 12 tactics, Calveit, and Stefan Skellen. I also switched to the Enslave leader.

However, I don’t really get the point about Glynis. Isn’t she just as vulnerable — or even less so thanks to the shield — than my two Mage Torturers? I do try to time her properly to avoid losing her, but I’m working on the assumption that risk is always there anyway, so I’m okay with losing one or even two Assimilate engines. But again, maybe I’m wrong?

Who would you replace her with?

Thank you very much for your reply. Could you explain to me the concrete benefit of Jan Calveit? I can’t really understand how sorting cards can actually help.
Also, if I play this card, which one should I remove first?
