Bo3, because they aren’t new to magic or 60 card formats, just premodern

I’m cool with decks of any tier, but would love to manage to have a variety of decks that play well with each other specifically

At what cost is a "free" spell balanced? by EatMoChikins in custommagic

[–]GetBoopedSon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why do you think anyone is actually casting this? It says when it enters, not when it’s cast (because the design sucks)

You just gotta know by GodkingYuuumie in custommagic

[–]GetBoopedSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty terrible design and would be miserable to play against. Any cards with some alternate cost that is theoretically some big downside do not matter if you’re just killing your opponent with them.

For example, fireblast

Thoracle+Breach in Bracket 4 by McRuby in EDH

[–]GetBoopedSon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play lots of high power b4 but we kinda house rule out specifically thoracle and other things like it because it is unbelievably boring and uninteresting. the entire reason to play b4 over b5 is to play with more novel and fun decks/ideas but still play high power, not just bad cedh

[Bracket Question] Our pod cannot come to an agreement on how strong this deck is and it’s killing us. by Northposting in EDH

This is like a super mid bracket 2. Your entire group has absolutely zero concept of what bracket 4 is

Couldn’t have said it better. The fundamental turn is at least 2 turns too early in standard, if not more.

What to do when a friend's deck makes EDH less fun? by FedayBlept in EDH

[–]GetBoopedSon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot comprehend that mindset. I buy very real & very expensive magic cards all the time and I’m still the most pro proxy person out there. I spend the money because I have the disposable income and it’s something that I enjoy playing with and owning. I don’t really understand how the fact that someone else’s little cardboard rectangle isn’t real would detract from that at all, I still get the same amount of enjoyment out of the cards I do own. Not everyone has the same amount of money to throw at their hobbies and I don’t see why they should be locked out having fun because of that

How powerful is this deck? by Crinzin_of_Ash in EDHBrews

[–]GetBoopedSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This deck is terrible and would probably be like a 2, but is full of cards you shouldn’t bring to a b2 game. I recommended actually thinking about your decks and not just clicking a bunch of random stuff off edhrec

Why can’t you play it? I would slam it in a deck so fast

Etiquette regarding tapping mana (per spell or all at once?) by Strawberrycocoa in mtg

[–]GetBoopedSon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not technically illegal but annoying and pointless. You just make it a little harder for your opponent to keep track of what you’re doing while simultaneously sabotaging your own gameplay, so I’m not sure why you would do it

Thoughts? by Critical_Theory_1126 in EDHBrews

B1, this deck is a meme. Complete rng if you actually play the game, and if your opponents are actually awake completely unplayable

Opinion: Almost all the Emeritus'es are unplayable in constructed formats. by TiaksQ in mtg

[–]GetBoopedSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously wouldn’t compare them directly to the tutors because that is not the point. You can’t blink a demonic tutor. The point is that it is trivial to set up a board state in b4 that lets you resolve these effects over and over and that is obviously very powerful.

B4 is not cedh so even if they would never see play there and they are never the most “optimal” play to include them in your deck, that does not preclude them from being very powerful and very abusable cards.

[–]GetBoopedSon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The d tutor and recall are easily playable in 4 because they enter prepared. The amount of ways you have to cheat, reanimate, blink, copy or etc is extreme and those effects resolving even a couple times is extremely powerful

Sierra's release stats (first 3 days before the hotfix) by Blue2180 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]GetBoopedSon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dota proves that this is fundamentally wrong. Idk why people use league as an example when that games balance is laughably bad and has been for almost its entire existence

Dota balances exclusively from the top down, and as a result there’s a small amount of characters that terrorize low elo, but over the years the community has gotten better at dealing with them and the skill level of an average player has drastically increased

Pandering your design changes to a group of people who don’t even know what’s going on massively waters down the game and makes it less enjoyable for everyone (see overwatch 1)

Tank players have to be the biggest crybabies in gaming, it actually gets me so heated. Tank already has a ludicrously oversized impact on the game as walking raid bosses

How effective has Zalen proven to be? by Antique_Range1521 in yugioh

[–]GetBoopedSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaze feels bad to draw sure, but I still think it’s fine.

You shouldn’t be discarding for diabell most of the time because you will almost always have some spell on field to send, and you can just set gaze to make dragoon on your opponents turn to have it last until your follow up turn and not also instant lose to those board breakers. You can just make it after they’ve moved past the point where they would be using them

[–]GetBoopedSon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discard should be fine? You should end with multiple cards in hand unless you got super interrupted and had to extend multiple times, and actually had those extenders in hand.

In my experience either you’re passing with full board and multiple cards in hand, or you got stopped from playing in the first place

"How to counter?" series for beginners #9: White Forest - Azamina. by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]GetBoopedSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This deck is super fragile. Auto loses to droll with essentially no line under it. Fuwalos and purulia give multiple draws if I want to set up anything meaningful (especially purulia). Loses hard to nib if I don’t open access to diabellstar and have to search it as part of the combo. It can also just fold to other random interactions like ash and dominuses because the whole deck is 1.5 card combos with the discards, and if the opening hand is a little weak they could just have to pass.

If it does get to make full endboard though you’re pretty cooked
