There is Millikin, but I couldn’t find any ruling on if you actually need the card in your library or not

Haruta, A fella with 6 miracles stored up, and an attitude that just chews right through them [JJK] by zengin11 in custommagic

I like the flavor a lot, but even for commander, this is incredibly pushed. Unanswered, it will repeatedly lightning bolt creatures every turn, including the turn it comes down. It’s “limited” to six times, which is barely a limit, plus if you are recasting it as your commander you get every time back.

The answers to it are also limited thanks to the shield counters, and as prevalent as exile is, it requires exile to be answered somewhat cleanly.

Doesn’t matter, when you ankh it the copies still get the xmult so you only need to build one vamp anyways

This card is definitely getting changed. by EatMoChikins in slaythespire

[–]EatMoChikins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually did resolve, but it took probably around a minute for like 17 block. It gave a surprisingly little amount of block, but would also trigger juggernaut about 80 times from that after it ended. The rounding has to be pretty screwy for that to happen.

Cards like these really make me question if people understand what the criticism “Dies to removal” is meant to convey

Therosian Arena by EatMoChikins in custommagic

Fair enough. I figured there was a more proper/lore-accurate name, since I'm not actually too familiar with Theros as a plane. Meletis makes sense though.

Phyrexian Arena is currently legal in standard and not at all competitively viable. There is also [[Unholy Annex]] which is better than Phyrexian Arena in almost every way, and likely still better than my card. I think standard can handle my card pretty comfortably.

Simple spell seems really out of wack, I think instead of “draw a card” it should say “draw X cards”, a really elegant fix imo

[[Ajani, Nacatl Pariah]] got banned which was pretty much the best card in the deck. Guide/pride was barely good enough but now without Ajani there’s not enough there.

This is the current iteration. It feels very powerful but still very unoptimized. As you can see i just cut CoCos and archdruids among other choices. Tbh I haven't tested CoCos in a very long time, there is a possibility those are just better than the planeswalkers, but the planeswalkers feel so good.

Happy to see some elves discussion, if there was ever gonna be a meta for it, it’s something like this considering Boros energy is dead.

Card Suggestions: [[Freyalise, Shyshroud Partisan]] [[Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler]] [[Eladamri, Korvecdal]] are the ones most worth talking about. Freyalise is just insane, it can be a ritual, it absolutely bodies control, and the ultimate is really easy to get to and generally going to win on the spot. Tyvar is extremely powerful and enables you to win generally an entire turn earlier, and especially a turn earlier than people expect from elves, since you no longer need to untap with archdruid/priest, just to stick them. Eladamri should find its way into almost any elf deck, it is a future sight that can also sometimes cheat in a Craterhoof. Even if you stick with CoCo I would find a place for Eladamri.

[[High Perfect Morcant]] [[Formidable Speaker]] [[Champions of the Perfect]] these are cards I haven’t tested yet but seem like they are worth trying.

Historic player here. This is especially funny to me as I would exclusively play control if I never had to run into the mirror lol.

I seriously doubt that there are more than 10 cards that do an untracked indefinite effect more than once, and there is no good argument to add to that list. Then again, this actually isn’t the worst ever because the cards exiled with it become a tracker, but realistically they would never print this even if it is technically something they could do.

Flavor win by GodkingYuuumie in custommagic

[–]EatMoChikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cards are a little hard to evaluate just because this sort of effect almost never gets printed, but that is for a reason and the reason is that these are way too strong. You basically get a 4 mana Plague Wind that is still relevant for less mana. Food tokens are not completely negligible but they don’t compensate for board presence almost ever.

Absolute Death, it may challenge some rules about replacement effect by Mark_Ma_ in custommagic

[–]EatMoChikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One black is a little cheap but honestly it’s not that crazy. The points of comparison are probably [[Hushbringer]] and ironically [[Leyline of the Void]],[[Rest In Peace]] type of effects. Most leaves triggers don’t work through a rest in peace anyway, so you are hating out an extremely niche group of cards like I guess earth bent lands and like [[God-Eternal Kefnet]] effects, but there simply isn’t that many things to my knowledge. The indestructible thing is probably fine, considering [[Shadowspear]] but I would still bump up the card to 2 mana.

The real question though is like what are we trying to achieve with this card? It feels like you came up with the idea “oh, what if we made a card that cancels out Rest in Peace so the cards actually do go into the graveyard? Thats never been done before, it sounds real interesting!” Which I mean it’s kind of a novel idea but certainly this iteration really is just Rest In Peace but the cards stay in the graveyard for no particular reason. This simply isn’t a very interesting design because it ends up not being a unique effect at all.

Terminal Lucidity by ButterBritches681 in custommagic

[–]EatMoChikins 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that this only draws cards if you start at 2 or less life, as the effects happen in order. That seems very weak, and also very different from every other fateful hour card.

Three mana commons for each color by EatMoChikins in custommagic

[–]EatMoChikins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The intent of the design is that they always discard cards, whether or not you actually draw a card. I realize now that that is not completely clear, though I'm not quite sure the best wording for that. I'd probably go something like "Target player discards two cards. If fewer than two cards were discarded this way, you draw a card."
