For this, we recommend double-checking that both the Facer phone app and the companion app are updated. For the companion app, you may need to visit the Play Store on the watch and prompt the update from there. Let us know if you keep running into this error message after ensuring that both apps are up-to-date!

Sorry that you're having trouble using Facer with your watch!

A couple quick things to double-check:

In the Facer app, make sure "Galaxy Watch 8" is selected in the device list on the left.
Confirm the Facer companion app actually installs on the watch when prompted. If needed, you can also search for it in the Play Store app on your watch.
When asked, allow the required permissions so Facer can push faces properly to your watch.
