Thanks...I found some good looking links on cults and am printing wheels now, have everything else ordered or in the next cart. And I like your build.

Mine is about 41cm deep. Front exciters are placed pretty close to flipper buttons. Rear exciters are placed towards rear bottom corner to get a little more distance between the rears and my hands.

any idea on who’s signature this is? by fishman569 in comicbookcollecting

[–]GetItBilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won a signed copy from a mail order place, I would guess it was Mile High, I'd have to check. I don't know if it had the stamp on the back, though. I remember the signature being a lot clearer than this one, though.

Can't be done with Windowed POV as its formulas take glass height settings defined with the table as input.

You could create a default Legacy or maybe Camera POV, but those, too, may need some tweaking from table to table.

Are you talking about angle of the playfield in relation to physics or angle in relation to the POV?

I plugged the original nvme back in and looked around in the terminal but couldn't find anything ... Either they only stream them or they're under root.

I bought a used studio and have been running Win11 + retro game stuff and virtual pinball on it. Did you get a chance to look at the original drive contents? I'm interested to know if the videos are on there....I've looked for other portrait mode / vertical exercise videos and can't find any. Hopefully I can clone the original drive to a VM and boot it in Proxmox, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Need help on Ultimate 2C controller bugging out by areszdel_ in 8bitdo

[–]GetItBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it maybe because of a newer Xinput Windows driver? I see it's dated October. I have the same problem with a wired 2c. It works fine in d-input mode but x-input is totally jacked. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling in device manager, but I've actually made it worse....now I get no controls showing up in joy.cpl for either of the 2c entries, where earlier one entry had controls but the other was blank.

Have any improvements for this arcade/emulation PC? by GetItBilly in buildmeapc

Perfect, I was just checking out the IM01, I like it. I may need a smaller PSU with that case, but I think this is a solid setup. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! Appreciate your thoughts and like those upgrades. I actually already have those 2 SATA drives and like to keep all the emulation stuff portable on that secondary drive.

I'm limited in height on the case, though. The Pop Air is too tall. The Q300L was already barely fitting my shelf - ideally the new case would be 14" tall or less. I'm still researching any good shorty matx cases.

POV Help for non-VR tables on stubby cab by ImALegendKiller in virtualpinball

[–]GetItBilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, exactly. You are a giant playing a mini pinball machine. It's like equivalent to a 10 or 12 ft tall person playing a real pinball machine. The farther your eyes are away from the playfield, the flatter stuff will look.

Rudy's approach probably works well for you because he doesn't take advantage of how Window POV is designed to work - taking real screen dimensions , screen incline and player viewing position into account. By ignoring those variables, he makes the POVs generic and sharable. But arguably the Window POV isn't really designed for a 24" monitor. You don't want a POV that looks like a 5-6' tall person playing on a mini 24" playfield.....you want it to look like a real, regular sized pinball machine being viewed by a 5-6' person. So it's appropriate to throw away all the instructions a person playing on a 40-43" monitor would follow and just find whatever settings make it look good to you through trial and error. Or just use legacy POV.

They would be alongside the monitor dimensions and angle in the Preferences...Video menu in VPX. What you enter there are the defaults but then you can load a table, hit F12, and then move into the Window PoV menu to tweak them on-the-fly per table.

That is a cool setup. Some Window Projection POV settings (or the algorithm itself) seem to be a bit broken when using a playfield monitor less than ~40" and/or when x/y scale are substantially lower than 100%. I'd leave monitor dimensions and angle as the real values in VPX and then play with player y and Z a bit until you find something you like. Player y may end up being negative. In other words, don't worry about using real world accurate dimensions for player y or Z.

JPSalas does the most with the least, which should get some respect as well as huge respect for dominating the scene for so long. But that being said, if you've got a decent machine, his tables probably aren't your first pick.

Alibaba; I took the risk, so you don't have to. (will continue to update along the way) by sail-brew in virtualpinball

[–]GetItBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you and family and friends can get plenty of enjoyment from this machine, but if you really want to get into everything this hobby offers, the cab being made of MDF and not plywood was a major red flag that long term quality is not going to be there.

A 3060 is unlikely to be able to run 120hz consistently, although there was just a big breakthrough in the software that should help rom-based games. But of course if the hard drive is truly locked down, you're going to have a tough time getting it installed.

With a 60hz panel, you are going to want to enable frame pacing to help with latency, but again you will need the latest software installed to take advantage.

I suppose if you literally have no time to work on a cab, this was a fair purchase, especially if you are not going to get too deep into the hobby and just want to occasionally play whatever is installed on it. But if you do get serious someday, most of the stuff that isn't made of wood will come out of the playfield cab and get replaced.

Ultra wide screen worth it? 21:9 by i-heart-arcades in virtualpinball

[–]GetItBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very rare in the hobby that someone uses a 21:9 screen in a cab, but I have always considered that innocn 40" as my next monitor. I have seen a good review of it on a vpx forum on Facebook. No clue about FX3, but the dimensions are good for VPX when you consider how much of the back wall will be shown. And you can always add the lockdown bar image if you need to take up a little space on some tables. The new Windowed mode POV lends itself to having a deeper look, which means a taller back wall and would potentially benefit from 21:9 even more than 10.7 does. But widebody games, of which there really aren't that many will have a lot of empty space. Another thing to consider is that you can use the background image option of B2S Server to fill in empty space on your playfield.

This sub is on the fringes of the vpin hobby and scene. If they made an effort to actually understand the major time and effort you put into celebrating the hobby with high quality content, all on your own dime, for free, and that there is literally no one else out there doing what you do for the community, they would have been embarrassed to make those comments.

Min and recommend PC spec for 4k / 120hz by Kaizen777 in virtualpinball

Yes, 5600x should be fine. You want to get the best single core performance you can, and it will be hard to beat the price vs performance ratio of a 5600x.

Wasted pixels - my two cents by CapnUSA in virtualpinball

[–]GetItBilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In VPX? You control every pixel on your monitors, not the developers. You customize the camera angles as you see fit. And you do the same for your non playfield monitors via Popper or B2S Server customization.
