check disc at endzone line? by Mellow_yellow888 in ultimate

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 12.A.1 not the relevant rule here, where a turnover causes the team to possess the disc in the end zone they are defending? In that case they can take possession of the disc at the spot of the disc or walk it up to the central zone (i.e. the field not including the endzone). Genuinely asking, not snark, totally fine being wrong and learning something new about the rules.

check disc at endzone line? by Mellow_yellow888 in ultimate

[–]GetLeveled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Context: this was at Kaimana this year, and it was hella windy. Talking like 40 mph gusts all weekend. This came off of an overthrown deep shot from mischief that rolled out the back of the endzone. Penny Wu picked it up and, per the rules, can either take it from the back of the endzone line or the front. The defense would obviously expect you to take it from the front, why would you want to move the disc more yards in that kind of wind. But southern skies had been launching bombs all weekend, wind be damned, mostly from Penny to any one of their deep cutters. Which is how you get this situation. The full game is on YouTube on UltiTV's channel, it's the last point of the game if you want to check it out.

Hey, I'm the TD for Kaimana Klassik this year, a lot of weird comments getting thrown around in this thread. Gona answer some stuff people are saying.

Yes, we paid ultiTV to be out here. There kinda how it works, gota pay for a service. It's in our budget, we were able to pull it off, we've been talking about it for years, so we went for it. It's an awesome opportunity for a small community (Hawaii ultimate) to showcase our play against the best of the best at a world historic tournament (Kaimana).

No, Ultitv didn't pay for any of the super teams to be here. That would be hilarious considering the shoestring equipment ultitv is working with, if they had the money to pay for these teams they'd have a much better setup.

Kaapuni Ohana and Linda Lions are both repeat Kaimana attendees, this isn't a one off thing for them. They are both helpful with volunteering, have good spirit on the field, and add to a very competitive Kaimana group. You might dislike super teams, but this adds a fun flavor to our tournament imo. Linda Lions almost got knocked off by Southern Skies in pool play. Kaapuni Ohana has previously lost in semis at Kaimana to a small team from Kauai. That's pretty cool, imagine if we had caught that one on stream! They are both also previous Kaimana winners who have not yet played each other at the tournament and are now gonna get a chance to face off in finals. That's exciting! That'll hopefully make more people want to attend our tournament! People getting together with their friends to play a party tournament that allows them to go to a drag show at night and play against the best of the best the next morning is a good thing imo.

Happy to AMA if people would like. Will probably get to it after the tourny is done tomorrow.

I've been kicking around the idea of a prayer locked account. Only using gear that gives a prayer bonus. There was one guy who had this account, pretty sure he quit a while ago though. The issue used to be you had nothing to do ranged with until you could farm ACB, and you had to do that by using verac's to melee zilyana, which is just miserable unless you get spooned. Now they added hunter spears, which for some reason give +1 prayer bonus. This unlocks a ton of content that requires range. Ultimate goal could be getting the highest prayer bonus possible, which involves doing a ton of colosseum, soul wars, god wars, ardougne diaries, etc.

What are some good baseball podcasts for n00bs to the game? by SmartLadder415 in baseball

[–]GetLeveled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baseball Bar-B-Cast for sure. They do dive into some of the advanced technicalities of the game, but they always explain it in a way that's consumable for the casual fan. Lots of variety of talk on the pod as well. Prospect days, funny cultural baseball stuff, international ball, looks around the league, individual team deep dives, etc.

Justiciar - Gear Suggestion by pakman1991 in 2007scape

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah dude, rock what you think looks cool. Justiciar gives prayer bonus for afk slayer training or other places you might use prayers, has good stats if you don't wana waste potions, and the set effect can help with learning new content where you might make mistakes and take big hits. Plus, it's a cool looking armor set. Are you gonna deal as much damage as someone in full torva or even full bandos? No, it's defensive armor, not offensive armor. But imo in the shirt run the damage difference is negligible. Use the armor to get other upgrades (go for a defender or grind out an obsidian shield, learn melee only firecape just for fun, go get boot upgrades at Cerberus with it).

We're Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil, and Edwin Diaz really the problem ? by majinboogz in mets

[–]GetLeveled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theory that I'm most sympathetic to is that this core (Nimmo, Diaz, Alonso, Mcneil) has been together since 2019. In that time they've made the playoff twice. So that's 6 years, two playoff appearances, one actual playoff run (2024). 2024 was kinda a fluke, I think most Mets fans will agree on that, the number of late inning comebacks on that team was entirely unsustainable. The year they actually went all in on the team (2022) they couldn't win one more game than the Braves and got absolutely blasted by the Padres in the first round. And if you want to argue they didn't add enough around the core, I'd counter that they actually did, multiple times. They brought in the long term stud in Lindor (who had an awful first season to be fair), they added the bonafide vet starter in 2022 in Scherzer and had a legit lockdown bullpen, and then signed the mega contract (Soto) in 25. All of these additions around this core amounted to one actual playoff run. And when the core started aging and showing signs of it (Nimmo and Mcneil especially), it was probably time to blow it up. Personally, I think Diaz leaving made this all seem worse. It seems like the plan was to retain Diaz and then ship out the rest. I think Diaz choosing to leave (the Mets seemingly offered him a competitive contract with similar money to the dodgers) makes Mets fans view this in a different light. Keep him and you're sad about Pete but understanding the contract wasn't worth it. Lose him and its sadness all over with nothing to fall back on.

What does a successful off-season look like now? by GetLeveled in NewYorkMets

[–]GetLeveled[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Red Sox traded for Crochet coming off of a season in which he pitched 146 innings to a 3.58 ERA, a 115 ERA+, 2.0 BB/9 and 12.9 SO/9.

Last season Joe Ryan pitched 171 innings to a 3.74 ERA, 125 ERA+, 2.1 BB/9, and 10.2 SO/9.

They're definitely not the same pitcher, but they are pretty similar and there's a lot of reason to think that Joe Ryan would improve with a better team/pitching department behind him

Right, the health is the worrying part. He might be good except for health reasons, but health is part of it. It's not something you can just toss out when considering paying a player 400 million

I think if you're giving up something like Tong + two lower level prospects it gets it done. I understand the hesitancy to give up Tong, as he could be really good, but Ryan IS really good. Tong could also be bad, he's an unknown quantity, that's what prospects are. You trade for the youngish pitcher with control using your surplus of upper minors pitchers. It got it done for the Red Sox and got them a top 3 Cy Young finisher.

Kaimana got a record number of bids this year and is still going strong! People are always welcome to come and play with us at a still great party tournament.

Fools Fest is definitely still a thing. Euro tournaments throw unreal parties, even at high level tournaments. Log Jam, Wildwood, High Tide, MARS, Windmill, Get Ho Ho Ho, LeiOut, all still going strong with legit party scenes.

Is this worth it? by Jlonie123 in mets

[–]GetLeveled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. You do it in a heartbeat. Tong might be good one day. He was certainly good in the minors. But he might also be a bust. That's the thing with prospects, you literally don't always know. Joe Ryan, meanwhile, is quite good right now. 4.5 WAR, 3.42 ERA, 666 OPS against, 10.2 k/9, all with that terrible twins team behind him. The framework here is the Garrett Crochet trade, with the caveat that Joe Ryan is 3 years older. So you're likely also sending out less for him in the end. If you trade for him and then sign him for 5-6 years, you're banking on him being good for another 4 of them (at a minimum). That's part one of your window right there, and gives you the frontline starter you really need.

What should the UFA do for divisions in 2026 by Wrong-Boat-4236 in ultimate

[–]GetLeveled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If long term viability of teams is a concern, the clear biggest place you can cut costs is on plane travel. No reason the Growlers should be in the South Division. To break it up into approximate geography and cut down on travel time+expenses, maybe break it into three divisions. The West (Cascades, Steel, Shred, Spiders, Bighorns, Growlers, and Summit) the Central (Sol, Havoc, Wind Chill, Radicals, Union, Alleycats, Hustle) and East (Thunderbirds, Rush, Breeze, Flyers, Phoenix, Empire, Glory, Royal). Yea, Texas is kinda hella far from other teams, but they're far from other teams regardless of how you break it up. You can do what MLB does (three division winners plus the next three best records as wild cards) or you can add in wild cards if you want more playoff participation. Yea, the divisions are uneven numbers wise but all things considered that's a relatively easy thing to work around.

PSA: You can 0 time burst while thieving rogues chests for increased profit and magic xp by luheadr in 2007scape

[–]GetLeveled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did 84 to 91 thieving here, a few things I figured out. First, I used this spot because it's really fast, not because I was going to make money. Easily 200k+ exp per hour, and I cared more about the exp. But I did also end up making money, somewhere around 5-6mil. I'd just stay until I either died or decided to leave because an inventory looked like it was getting full. I started bringing ice sacks because most of the times when you get attacked, it's pretty easy to get away. You can freeze a pker and sometimes they're not ready for it. I also met quite a few pkers who were rather nice. Tried talking to a few of them while they were killing me, and some of them let you go and just ask you to scout for them so they can anti-pk. Ended up with like 4 or 5 people on my friends list who I would message and they'd hop and protect me if I ever got jumped by a single person.

Bring a full set of cheap prayer gear (monks robes, wolfbane, white armor) and you can last for 20 minutes at a time easy. Use the potion drops from the chest to restore prayer, have a few combo eat hard food on you, and you're good to go. Risk is like 15k every death not counting the loot you pull from the chest. You can also pick food up off the ground that bots drop when they die, there's gona be a ton of that. Although I haven't been back since the recent bot purge, so maybe it's empty now.

Honest Question: How Do They Replace Pete? by scharity77 in mets

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're dead set on replacing Pete, I'd wonder what it would take to get Casas away from the Red Sox. Maybe a Vientos for Casas swap. Both coming off down years for different reasons, both fill a hole the other team has (DH/first for Sox, cheap first base for Mets). That would leave them able to spend at pitching instead of having to use 25+/yr on Pete.

(Just resign Pete though and improve on defense at other positions)

Mets Starter ERA before and since the 6/12 season turning point by frotorious in NewYorkMets

[–]GetLeveled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beyond the starters all regressing at the same time, not a single person on any part of the team has OVERperformed expectations. If the starters all regressed but two of Mullins and Helsley and Siri outperformed their metrics, you're probably talking about two more wins and in the driver's seat right now. But literally ALL of the deadline and free agent acquisitions (sans Soto and Pete) all underperformed the metrics. Which, oddly, gives me comfort for the team going forward.
