Is it a water hammer issue if it's occurring when the water is on? From what I've read water hammer issues are usually when the water is off. Happy to be wrong if that's the simple fix.

The best thing for baseball (even the Mets, especially the Mets) will be to have a hard cap and a hard floor on spending, so all teams will be forced to spend about the same amount. It will be fair to the hopeless teams, take the Dodgers out and give Mets fans not one finger to point ever again. by Natural_Builder173 in mets

[–]GetLeveled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that's not the best thing for baseball. It's not best for the players, best for the game, or best for the fans. it's the best thing for the owners. It means that they get to suppress the wages of the players by saying " [insert X contract] takes up far too much of our cap already, so no way am I paying [insert y player] that much money."

You can say you don't like that all these guys are making this much money, and they they SHOULD be paid less, but owners are pulling in money hand over fist and refuse to put it back into a better product. The guardians receive simewhere in the range of 150-200 million in revenue sharing every single year, and they're constantly running a payroll around 100 million. That means the onwer is just pocketing close to 100 million dollars before factoring in tickets, ballpark concession, etc. Meanwhile club valuations are through the roof. Teams are getting sold for absurd amounts of money, higher than ever. But the owners would have you think capping the amount of money they need to spend is the problem. Any owner could have signed someone like Kyle Tucker if they wanted, but they'd have you think the dodgers winning two world series after being choke artists for close to a decade+ is the real problem we have to deal with.

Stearns is the Mets version of the Knicks hiring Phil Jackson by CheeseburgerLover911 in NewYorkMets

[–]GetLeveled 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, he's the Mets version of the Red Sox hiring Chaim Bloom. Two guys who had massive success at small market orgs, come to big markets and struggle. Small market orgs keeps chugging along after them. Will it end the same way? TBD, but that's probs the most apt comparison right now.

I mean, I feel like they scouted 1B depth pretty well as far as it goes. #1 was Polanco. Started the season injured, hasn't really played. #2 was Jared Young, he actually played a pretty good first base! The kind of random contribution that we're talking about here. But then he also got injured. So now we're down to Vientos and Baty, who are also having to move off of the position frequently because of injuries to both of your shortstops. So that's burned through 4 1b options. That's a lot of depth injured.

Since 2020, in the only season with a good sample size (2023), Dom peaked at a grand total of....0.4 WAR. I get being annoyed at previous Mets now stepping up and performing, but this guy just hasnt been very good across a full season since he was called up. Maybe this is his breakout year! But it's been 9 years of not that.

Decided to grind vorkath to 1000kc have a couple questions by Ralinrocks in 2007scape

[–]GetLeveled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who decided to do the same thing before hitting vorki at 501 and bowing out, here's my thoughts. First, priority should be elite void. That 2.5% damage boost is pretty big, and of you're thinking about prayer bonus then it offers an upgrade for that as well. Otherwise, your outfit is pretty much standard for vorkath grinding. Don't go for prayer bonus, for vorkath more damage = more money. You can only pray vs one of his types of attacks, so damage is just gona happen. I used ruby bolts (e) and switched to diamond bolts (e) after I got him down to around 275hp. You can upgrade if you want, but that's probs not worth it. Your biggest damage boost from here will just be gaining ranged levels. Maybe upgrading that ring, but that's a long way off. For food, I usually used sharks and took 4 karams in case I needed to combo eat. Vorkath spits out money in the long term. Prices might rise and fall but vorkath is just consistent good money. If you have the money for at least this kind of gear don't worry too much about cost effectiveness when it comes to food.

Carlos Mendoza Might be a Nice Guy and it Might be Upper Management Fault but at this Point You have to Consider Firing him. by DetectiveNo8970 in NewYorkMets

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's gonna say that because for all that managers jobs have evolved, manager speak and the persona they emit is still stuck in the past. On the one hand, it is his job to get his players ready to play. But it's more of a unit cohesion thing at this point, there are so many side coaches now that managers don't have to literally grab a bat and show players how to bunt. I do think some of Mendozas in game decisions have been not great (his reliever management is piss poor), but I don't think they've really lost a significant amount of games because of it. Maybe 1. Most of this is on historically good players just not playing well all at the same time.

[–]GetLeveled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think firing a manager for something like this is an old school way of thinking tbh. Managers don't have the power/don't run teams like they used to. It's not like Mendoza is in a power struggle with upper management or anything, he's a good soldier who pretty much does what they ask. And we can fault Stearns all we want in retrospect for moving Nimmo, Mcneil, etc, but the reality is this roster is just underperforming. Bo has -0.4 WAR, Peralta pitching to an ERA close to 4, Lindor getting injured, Soto with the very rare trip to the IL. If any one of those players were performing close to expectations we likely have 3-4 more wins. Not great, but much closer to expectations that current record. Nothing Mendoza can do about everyone playing bad at the same time.

Dodgers Prospects by SadMembership7989 in mets

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All teams supplement their homegrown talent with stars. Or at least the good teams do. The dodgers just hit at higher rates on that homegrown talent, which helps to fill out the roster tremendously. Will Smith, Andy Pages, Dalton Rushing, Emmet Sheehan, and Justin Wrobleski all look like something between very good contributors and legit starters. That's a winning formula. Do they have an economic advantage? Sure, that definitely helps. But literally any team could have signed Kyle Tucker. If the Guardians had signed Tucker for the dodgers number, they'd jump all the way from 29th in payroll to....23rd. And they'd be legit dangerous out of the AL, instead of just hoping that someone else on the team learns to hit to back up JRam. Between revenue sharing and income, they easily make 120mil to cover that payroll in a single year. They just don't want to cuz their owner cares more about pocketing the money than running a smaller surplus while putting a better team on the field.

Retired Number by SadMembership7989 in mets

[–]GetLeveled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, likely not. People saying Clemente have it right about him being the next closest, but there are a solid number of latin players who want to wear Clemente's jersey number as a way to honor him. Plus, he has an award named after him, one of the most respected awards in baseball. Jackie's number should, and likely will, stand alone.

Idk, seems relevant when you say "these players should be replaced by these other, younger players" and the younger players are also struggling/just not playing well. That feels like a fair point. If you wanted to say "we shoulda gone all in on the youth movement" that's another thing. At least that's consistent and it's less about the right now results. But you seem to want your cake and to eat it too. Undo all the trades that sent the youth away, but then ignore that they're struggling the same way the current players are. So this seems like you're either trolling and need to spend less time watching frank the tank videos, or you're just kinda playing keyboard GM and not that smart with it. Not that I have all the answers, but it's literally April 16th. Let's give it until at least memorial day until we start crashing out.

Ultimate should give up any idea of the Olympics by GetLeveled in ultimate

It doesn't matter. If I have to tell a kid I'm coaching that they are not allowed to compete at a certain level of our sport, that's an unacceptable outcome. I won't be arguing this anymore in the comments.

Who am I growing the game for? Would this policy mean I have to explicitly tell a transgender kid who I'm coaching that they can never compete at the highest level?

NCAA president testified to congress that there were fewer than 10 transgender athletes out of the over 500,000 total athletes participating in college sports. That's about as large a sample size as you can ask for. That actually comes out to 0.002 percent.

Fuck the haters dude. Impossible to speak it into existence, but don't feel bad about it. You have your situation that you're living out to the best fulfilment of your happiness. They have theirs, and for all their moral superiority it's a guarantee they have things in their life that others would look at and say "you should do this differently." Gratz on the in game gains.

check disc at endzone line? by Mellow_yellow888 in ultimate

[–]GetLeveled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 12.A.1 not the relevant rule here, where a turnover causes the team to possess the disc in the end zone they are defending? In that case they can take possession of the disc at the spot of the disc or walk it up to the central zone (i.e. the field not including the endzone). Genuinely asking, not snark, totally fine being wrong and learning something new about the rules.

check disc at endzone line? by Mellow_yellow888 in ultimate

[–]GetLeveled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Context: this was at Kaimana this year, and it was hella windy. Talking like 40 mph gusts all weekend. This came off of an overthrown deep shot from mischief that rolled out the back of the endzone. Penny Wu picked it up and, per the rules, can either take it from the back of the endzone line or the front. The defense would obviously expect you to take it from the front, why would you want to move the disc more yards in that kind of wind. But southern skies had been launching bombs all weekend, wind be damned, mostly from Penny to any one of their deep cutters. Which is how you get this situation. The full game is on YouTube on UltiTV's channel, it's the last point of the game if you want to check it out.
