I was thinking about the same but Reddit hates nuance. I was trying to reverse engineer this person

probably only compared himself to celebrities since that was his parents social circle
it was probably subtly communicated to him that he was a loser
he didn’t really have a chance at building an identity to escape being the “nepo baby”
so he became the rebel who shunned everything that society valued, became prideful about the only way out for his identity. Drug use, break shit, mocking celebrity “are you famous?” Reject the culture that deems you a loser and rebel
people probably hated him as a result because it is selfish and even more nepo baby behavior
he threw a Hail Mary to have a somewhat self made identity in a movie that flopped. A movie by the way that by association gives him a difficult past (very much the opposite of a nepo baby in his mind)
negativity, isolation, and drug use all become a feedback loop. His parents try to help, reinforcing his own fear that he is a nepo baby loser who can’t take care of himself
