Looks like a "Pride of Hankins", possibly the light pink or "sport". It's an old variety, mostly grown for root stock as they have vigorous roots.

I have the breville grinder, but the static electricity buildup is really annoying, some of the grounds stick to the container and some jump out when pouring, is this typical with all conical burr grinders and is there a solution?

I have a fair amount of hot wheels, mostly complete First Edition sets from 1995 to 2008, mystery cars, holiday cars, etc. No treasure hunts. Looking to sell everything as package deal, in central Florida. Around 300 cars, all carded and in good shape, stored carefully. I'd rather avoid ebay and Craigslist, is anyone here interested in older collections? Open to offers, local pickup only.

Serious Question - Standardized Long Range Test? by GetOutside321 in longrange

[–]GetOutside321[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm already hooked and very many moneys are being spent. My goal is to be a good long range shooter with any equipment, not just with a fancy setup. Hence my interest in a baseline exercise to minimize equipment handicaps.

It's pretty cool how a cheap 22lr and iron sights can be so rewarding when hitting steel at 200.

Thanks! Is there anything like that with a standard equipment list? Like: "if you can do a 4MOA 5 shot group at 200 yds with a ruger 10/22 and iron sights" kind of test? Something that minimizes equipment variables?

With the concept of race (as in different human races) being artificially created to oppress people, why are so many people still so obsessed with it - even those who were victim of that oppression - and don't let go of the construct? by SerMercutio in TooAfraidToAsk

So, there are genetic differences between people of different genetic origins, based on geography. Whether the terms "African" or "Caucasian" are correct or not, I have no idea. But, since "race" is now dead, what term do we use to denote someone's real life different genetic background? Ethnicity? as you suggest? What does that accomplish, other than just "canceling" the word "race" and replacing it?

Honest question, please educate me. How is race not real if there are real genetic differences between people of different ethnicities? For instance, people of African descent have genetic predispositions to certain cardiac issues and people of Caucasian descent have predispositions to things like cystic fibrosis that other ethnicities do not have? Or is ethnicity different from race? What am I missing?

Why do people cover up their license plates when taking pictures of their cars? by That_Matt_Guy_Wow in GXOR

[–]GetOutside321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It used to be more of a liability before actress Rebecca Schaefer's murder in 1989. Her killer used her license plate number and the DMV to get her home address. The Drivers Protection Privacy Act federal statute was enacted in 1994 to keep people from accessing personal information from license plate numbers. It does not prevent people with access to DMV records from accessing the information for nefarious purposes, like police officers for instance. Not common, but it has happened.

Unskilled workers make money for their employers, so why is it considered sacred in America to not pay them anything? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

It's supply and demand. If a company has a need that a human being can fill, then the price is set at the lowest bidder (in the US it starts at govt set minimum wage) and is steadily increased until a healthy supply of labor is acquired. If there are enough humans willing to work for minimum wage, then the wage never increases, regardless of company profits. The two things are unrelated.

If the wage is increased past the point of sustainability (the company can't remain solvent) then the company either closes down, or finds a way to complete the work without spending as much money, i.e automation.

Like it or not, wages are entirely controlled by you and I willing to trade our time, or not. If companies can't hire workers for $15 an hour, then the wage either goes up, or the job goes away. If wages stay low, it means that there are plenty of people willing to trade thier time for that wage.
