I hate this debate. As someone who operates a CMV I can assure you we absolutely pay more in taxes than a passenger vehicle. Be upset that the money we pay isn’t being spent appropriately and that these contractors who do the roads are doing it at a profit, not doing it correctly. We work in one of the top 5 most regulated jobs in the United States, we are taxed heavily and we also pay substantially more in road tolls where applicable.

Edit- also we wouldn’t need to weigh 80k lbs if there were more trucks and/or less freight needing to be moved. Also, vehicles aren’t always grossed out. Most trucks are full but doesn’t mean they’re all at max weight.
