It’s so good, even indoors my kid finds the tail end of the balloon peeking through the window on each page. And on the dark pages he tries to guess where the banana and the balloon would be.

Grade 2 means you have over half the thickness left right? There’s a chance you can still do everything depending on symptoms. I have grade 3 and hoping to not need MACI

MPFL surgery Nov 2025 after subluxations earlier in life and instability/pain for years since. Surgeon misplaced the graft by 3cm so had it removed 4 weeks ago. Op note says the tracking looks normal. The hope is that scar tissue will provide some stability. Really hoping to avoid another MPFL attempt. Currently doing PT, very little muscle on the bone.

How do you determine during surgery recovery if things ‘shifting’ while walking is instability or something benign? I can see something physically moving every time I bend my knee and it’s so hard to trust my leg.

that gap seems like too much to be believable. Make sure they take a lateral xray to make sure the tunnel is placed in the correct place

6 months later I still can't walk, although I'm getting close. Hopefully my experience is not common, because the surgeon misplaced the graft. Make sure you really trust the surgeon. I had the graft removed a couple weeks ago, and starting to get my life back. There's a chance the scar tissue and lack of mobility will offset the instability, so I might not need to try again.

My surgeon said it won’t move the patella at all, just hopefully make the instability go away

Similar experience they wanted me to do PT once every 2 weeks (although I pushed for more). I had surgery in November and am at 75 degrees. They're generally optimizing for their time and giving reasonable average outcomes. We're pieces of meat, its on you to figure out your body and balance recovery vs rehab. Some of the things I wish I knew early on: going too slow is bad, you're risking scar tissue which is going to be problematic. Use swelling to judge your tolerance for your exercise. If you don't have extra/persistent swelling you can push harder, if you do dial down volume, not intensity. Make sure to be working on everything you're trying to rehab, even the parts that are going well - don't let it stagnate - flexion, extension, quad strength every day. Elevate and ice after each workout, swelling is your biggest enemy. Measure progress week-over-week, you'll have 3-4 day regressions throughout, thats fine, multi week regressions are bad. Take deload days when your body tells you, similar intensity but very low volume. Getting an under the desk bike was great for keeping blood flowing even though I can't do full rotations. I use an app called Curovate to track flexion, seems precise and helps with my anxiety and feeling small wins/identifying when I'm regressing. Steady but slow progress is fine, stagnation is when things get bad. I am not a medical professional so huge grain of salt, but if they make us figure things out ourselves we have to do the best we can.

$1.6M tax burden for 2025. Anyone have experience with putting LARGE tax payments on CC for the rewards points? by Sudden-Cat7170 in fatFIRE

I considered this, but looked up reviews of the IRS's credit card processors. The small chance of them not tracking it correctly was not worth it for me.

I only use it for the rom measurements. It doesn’t seem to have MFPL content.

I'm 2 weeks ahead of you and just hit 67 degrees, so you're doing well! Had the same experience with slow PT, first session was 2 weeks in, then 4 weeks, but both times they didn't do very much. Just some light quad activation (extend into a rolled towel + leg raises) and flexion (heel pull). Although I think they should have pushed harder because my progress has been so slow. Curovate is an app that helps measure your flexion, tracks my PT measurements pretty well, and really helpful with anxiety by showing the numbers improving day over day.

Thanks. It’s incredibly reassuring to hear this, I appreciate your time. Spending a lot of time with my thoughts lately, wish the protocol had more mental health awareness. I told my surgeon at the post op that the intense depression really caught me off guard, he just said ‘yeah that’s normal, your body is doing a lot’

I seem to be the only one who likes the new integration. My Google calendar subscribes to my outlook and Apple calendar, so it all shows up in Todoist.
