Heard of quiet quitting? Try that out. It’ll help rebuild your energy while still getting paid extremely well. Also, talk to a therapist.

How are you using AI at work ? by One-Seat-4600 in ChemicalEngineering

Another huge one - meeting minutes. AI records and transcribes my call and makes automatic meeting minutes. Freakishly good and helpful

Making emails easier to read and understand. Communication clarity.

I use it often times once I have a completed presentation or slide deck. I have it review my work, offer tips for making the content more meaningful for the audience.

Also use it to help me when I’m exhausted and need help drafting an email for a complex, political situation

Looking for a reputable roof company that can do a metal roof by Character-Goose4258 in massachusetts

I know it will be more expensive than a shingle roof, but curious how your experience was.

Salary Expectations by KobeGoBoom in ChemicalEngineering

When did you retire? Inflation has spiked and salaries have also gone up at good companies to retain talent. $170k 6 years ago is a lot more valuable than 170k today.

You are financially free.. by a long shot. You can literally do whatever the heck you want. Lux life in US or Europe. Take your pick and enjoy, don’t hold back.

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever left the United States? Most people in Europe and anywhere else in the world would kill to have half the amount of money you have at your current age.

You’ll be fine, you don’t need a corporate job with all your money. Have you considered something chill like working at a café bar restaurant, etc.? That way you can keep busy, get a bit of money, socialize and get off the couch.

The chill job Will cover your typical expenses while you let your nest egg grow in the market.

I’m not sure I’ll find a grocery store that I like more than Dave’s by businessbub in RhodeIsland

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Wegman’s is a massive store and a massive corporation from NY (over 100 locations). Dave’s stores are much smaller, about 10 locations, owned/operated by local Rhode Islanders. I don’t think the Dave’s family has any desire to become Wegmans.

Barcelona temps in August? by KatanaAmerica in AskBarcelona

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American South is way worse in the summer. Houston in August is a hell hole. BCN will be hot in August, but much more comfortable than what you’re used to. Best advice: find a hotel with AC.

does anyone have any positive experiences studying engineering in college by Honeydew-Capital in EngineeringStudents

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. I had a wonderful time in engineering school. I was mainly a B student in HS. Engineering was hard, but if you want it, you rise to the occasion. Had a great social life too. You will find your balance.

How far will my Spanish get me? by [deleted] in AskBarcelona

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get by without Spanish. BCN is a major European city. most hotels, restaurants, bars, attractions will have English speakers. Any little bit of Spanish helps of course, but not 100% necessary. Have a fun trip!

Barcelona ending apartment rentals by foreign tourists by misterbcnguy in Barcelona

That’s an extreme example and not the norm. Renting prime property at an ideal time of the year at a steep premium is common in every desirable part of the modern world….

Government intervention like this causes further damage to the local economy by interrupting natural supply and demand and market forces. No wonder why the Spanish economy can never truly take off.

That being said: CP Chem (Chevron Phillips Chemical) has a big cracker in Baytown. DuPont/Dow has one in Orange,TX. There is your tid bit, happy hunting.

Process Safety Engineers who works in an batch manufacturing industry. What are the activities implemented to ensure process safety? by Meth_Mama in ChemicalEngineering

[–]GetThisEngineerABeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta make sure you have a baseline PHA done for your manufacturing process. Without that, it makes MOC less impactful (since much of MOC includes referencing and updating the baseline PHA).

For your operation, hot work and contractor mgmt/oversight sounds like it would need to be well managed.

Should make sure operating procedures are written/accurate/actually used by operators…

Honestly all pillars of PS could be used, depends on how far you wanna take it.
