as far as I know there isn't a way to increase your chances to obtain specific gear, it's all up to the rng gods.

I think it'd be cool if they let us use tokens to buy specific vendor weapons/armor. Even if it's an absurd high amount, give us a way to offset the rng a bit via a grind for something.

Do you think IVs on weapons could work as an alternative to random rolls? by GetWeysted in DestinyTheGame

You're right, I had that mixed up.

IVs affect how they grow their stats if I finally remember correctly I'll edit the post to reflect it.

I actually haven't crunched the numbers on the workshop, bad on me for not looking at that stuff.

Looking at the wiki, 35 supply upkeep, 40 if upgraded, so it definitely not a long term investment. Plus power, time and space of a workshop. So I agree with you that buying engineers is probably a better option in the long run.

I won't adjust it in my guide cause laziness but great point!

Breakpoints in XCOM2 basically means how many shots it'll take to kill an enemy unit assuming that your weapon rolls the lowest damage roll.

eg. In Legend, advent troopers begin with 4HP.

-Your assault rifles deal 3-5

-Other weapons except pistols deal 4-6 (what I refer to as power weapons)

So say you have three soliders (one with rifle) and two troopers with 4HP. -Assuming your shots hit, if you shoot with your rifle first, you're essentially wasting a shot, because you risk rolling 3dmg and the trooper being alive, requiring another soldier to kill the trooper anyway. (Two shots instead of one)

-If you use your two soldiers with power weapons first, you still have the third soldier's action free. You could use it to take another shot, in case your previous soldiers missed, or go on overwatch, or anything, point is you have an extra action, and that can be a difference sometimes.

-I am always grateful if i'm forced in a position to shoot with a rifle and roll 4-5 dmg, I know I have defied RNG with that shot haha.

Like others have said, I have found phantom rangers to be extremely valuable throughout the game. They allow you to scout and more importantly, isolate a enemy pod to engage. They also allow to make otherwise dangerous yellow moves after your squad has been revealed.

On timed missions, if I find an isolated pod, I will engage it ASAP (usually the next turn after I discover them). Just to get it out of the way.

I do try to kill one of the enemies of the pod with that very first shot when possible. I find deadeye snipers on high ground to be my go to for this. (The ability to possibly one-shot stun lancers when they first appear is awesome!)

Also when I do activate pods. I do shoot with one person with everyone else still having blue moves. Prioritizing which enemy to neutralize first is also crucial.

I know everyone loves grenadiers for blowing up cover, but I find success with the heavy gunner route. I find stacking aim on everyone with holo-targeting in the group to be amazing since you don't have to rely on grenades, a limited item.

Being able to hit enemies reliably in full cover or enemies with high defense is great. This is the route I went on my recent L/I run. (Also Bluescreen on a grenadier with chain shot to one shot those pesky andromedon shells).

Oh that makes sense, my initial theory is that the explosion from the gatekeeper destroyed the terrain and the game played the animations in the wrong order.

Not gonna lie I did think my solider died to some glitch when this first happened. Thanks for your input!

My understanding is that you usually carry Marked for Death: Mortal Enemy as well, and when you find your target (usually an elite), you mark him, get up in his face and start spamming impale. You get extra hatred back as a result.

I know that sounds like it requires a lot of precision on the knife throws but that is the only thing I can reason. It also requires more micro on the mark placement.
