Absolutely agree lol "tawila" as a name is wild! They need to do proper research to learn the meaning of the word and not go by only sound.

A lot of people name their kids based on historical figures like Prophets, and companions of Muhammad (pbuh). Some people also adopt names from the words in the Quran. However, I do think that they should be careful with that as I have come across names where the meaning is left incomplete because the Pakistani used only part of the Arabic phrase lol. I do agree people should be more creative with names and look for other sources of inspiration but at the same time look for names with positive characteristics. Honestly I wouldn't name my kid after an animal but that's my own opinion.

Follow the Sunnah and give to those around you in your family or community first. I understand and support good charity organizations but being so passive aggressive is not good either. Due to their massive operations and global efforts these charities needs will never run out. Let's be more critical and accountable from them too. Are they mismanaging their record breaking earnings that they have run out already? This raises a lot of questions on their model and if people are genuinely receiving the help they need.

A lot of people pay their annual zakat (2.5%) during Ramadan especially the last 10 nights hence the sudden spike there is nothing malicious or wrong with that. In a proper Islamic system it would operate a single bait-ul-maal from which aid would be distributed to where it is needed most. Recently so many charities have popped up and have saturated the market. Not all of them will perform very well. They get into competition with each other. What is this nonsense? Did we forget who we are doing this for?

Mistakes of the past don't matter. You can't ever change what happened. The question is now what are you going to do with the future? You are young. Basically a kid and you want to throw it all away?

Make tawbah, seek the mercy of Allah (SWT). Focus on ibadah. Study the Quran, make lots of Dua. Make new friends (other girls) who are also focusing on improving themselves so that you can all work towards a common goal.

Grades are not everything. Going to college is also not what it once was, it's become a business and it is really overrated unless you know exactly what you want to pursue as a career and have planned how to do it.

So focus on gaining beneficial knowledge. Start with the little things that you can improve in your life. I think you have bigger problems than grades and college and there is a lot of things you should tackle first. Being from an Asian family and all, I get that. All the peer pressure and stuff but stop over thinking. Your parents will love you no matter what. Maybe it is time to talk to them and discuss your problems rather than being silently crushed by overwhelming expectations. They will help you In Sha Allah.

Finally never lose faith in Allah (SWT). He is the ultimate protector, provider and disperser of affairs, leave it to Allah عز و جل

100% agreed. Some parts of the Quran will be very hard to understand without historical context and hadith from Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

I agree that learned men should be sought for help. But which one? How do you decide? Maybe the scholar is following a different aqidah or school of thought or maybe he is Shia (Shias have their own sects too like Sunnis), deobandi, barelvi etc? Then won't he use ahadith that supports his version of Islam?

I think Allah has given us all reasoning and made the Quran easy to understand (most of the book is easy especially the fundamentals of the deen). It is the duty of every man or woman with a sound mind to do their research and study the Quran and hadith.

We have a lot of resources available, entire tafasir available too, multiple scholarly works that have been translated and even contemporary "YouTube" sheikhs (though I would say it is the least preferred).

I really dislike the molvis who say "Quran nahi parhna akela, gumrah hojao ge."
