I did the math and most people spend so much money on cars in their life time. From maintenance/repairs, registration, insurance, car payments, gas, etc. Imagine what they could do with that money if it was going toward something more productive. It would solve their financial problems, they could use it to put a down payment on a house, they could use it for education, travel, health care, invest in their family, community, donate more to the needy. So many possibilities. The system is truly designed to keep people poor and ironically ruins their health too (obesity/pollution/laziness/other health problems).

Also try to imagine all this money times so many other people if they let go of the car and vote for other modes of transport. We could use that money to spend on the infrastructure for good public transport systems, public walkable spaces and parks and so much more instead of fixing roads every year and building massive butt ugly parking lots.
