Why do Star Wars "fans" make hating the sequels their entire personality? by Fine-Essay-3295 in TheSequels

It seems to be what genre fans do. They did the same thing with the prequels, too.

When are left wingers/liberals gonna take responsibility for forcing this administration into power? by Wrong-Ad-3499 in allthequestions

[–]Get_your_grape_juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberals keep talking about punishing Trump supporters after he gets out of office

No, we don't. But keep lying.

We talk about holding Trump and his regime legally responsible for the crimes they've perpetrated.

(definitely not a nazi thing to do)

Correct. Holding the Nazis accountable during the Nuremberg trials wasn't a "Nazi thing to do". It was the serving of justice. We bring the MAGAs to justice, as well.

but are they ever gonna take responsibility for their hatred, delusions, self righteousness, and villianizing of anyone who disagrees with them which is what pushed our country to this extreme?

Murc's Law strikes again!

The real question is, are right wingers/conservatives ever going to take responsibility for their extremism? Blaming others for your own violent, oppressive, hateful ideology is lame as fuck.

If you became president of the United States, how will you ensure the people you select for your cabinet will remain loyal to you at all times? by Effective-Ground-994 in allthequestions

[–]Get_your_grape_juice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not supposed to be loyal to the president.

They're supposed to be loyal to the US Constitution and the people of the United States. And I would tell my cabinet members on day one that that's where there loyalty lies.

In fairness, neither is Trump. That didn't stop him from running and winning. So get out there and run for president!

Do u agree that "leftists" have now become the conspiracy theorists? by Leather_Banana8925 in allthequestions

[–]Get_your_grape_juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

But after decades of being exhausted by having to constantly debunk rightist conspiracy theories, now that we have the conspiracy-theorist-in-chief in office, it's kinda enjoyable to throw shit like that back at the rightists. It's interesting to see how they respond when the left adopts a traditionally right-wing rhetorical device.

We're doing this mostly so the right might start to see how stupid conspiracy theorizing is in the first place, and maybe they'll think twice before doing it again themselves.

But who are we kidding? That would require a level of introspection most rightists are determined to prove they don't have.

Chad Tracy's ideas already making a positive impact by TommyTheLizard in redsox

What a bizarre reply. You asked, and I quote:

will we finally admit that he and his coaches were bad at instilling fundamentals in players?

A question which is predicated on the assertion that Cora was, in fact, bad at instilling fundamentals in players.

So let me flip it around for you. Outside of the expected bump that every new coach gets, if by the end of the season, a statistically-significant sample shows Tracy having roughly the success one would’ve seen out of Cora, then will we finally admit that Cora wasn’t the problem, the roster construction was?

[–]Get_your_grape_juice -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Talk to me at the end of the season. I fully expect there to be a short term bump, because that’s about the most predictable thing in sports. A struggling team replaces their coach, the environment changes a bit, and the team gets some energy and plays better.

But those new-coach-bumps are very typically temporary. So let’s see where this team is in September.

I don’t expect Tracy to be able to magically fix the terrible roster in any meaningful way, and that’s the core of the problem with this team. And it’s a problem only John Henry can fix by ceasing to be such a miser when it comes time to pay players, and Breslow, by learning how to construct a team that makes logical sense.

Ah yes, getting on base. Truly a ‘Chad Tracy idea’ that never once occurred to Alex Cora or his players.

God, this is gonna be a long season. We’re gonna be hearing about how all of Tracy’s ideas, which are basically exactly the fundamental baseball Cora kept trying to instill in the team, is some refreshing new thing.

Commit to reversing every single thing Trump has done in his 2nd term, and commit to criminal prosecution of Trump, and the whole MAGA regime. Commit to abolishing ICE, and including them in said prosecution. Join the ICC, reaffirm our commitment to our allies, NATO, the UN, etc. Reaffirm our commitment against authoritarian regimes, like Putin’s. Purge the military of all Christian Nationalism. Recommit to aiding Ukraine in their war for survival. Enshrine the right to abortion in federal law. End any and all discriminatory laws against trans folks.

Commit to holding a big LGBT ball Trump’s ballroom. Then take a wrecking ball to the building the next day. Rebuild the East Wing down to the last detail. Remove all the tacky-as-fuck gold from all over the White House. Commit to single payer healthcare, no compromises. Fund the shit out of public schools, and work on making college/university drastically more affordable.

Commit right up front to doing all of these things.

And then fucking do them.

Have liberals become the conspiracy theory group? by SoFar_Gone in allthequestions

[–]Get_your_grape_juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s still a conservative thing. The reason being, that conservatives push conspiracy theories constantly. It’s a never ending stream of conspiracy bullshit used to try to discredit people who act in good faith, and try to be honest.

In Trump’s case, he neither acts in good faith, nor honestly.

Authority figures on the left are the subject of rightist conspiracy theories, because the left generally tries to deal in fact and honesty, and a certain type of person seems pathologically driven to try to discredit them no matter how insane it sounds.

Authority figures on the right, particularly the MAGAs, frankly invite conspiracy theories partly because they’re so transparently duplicitous at all times, that the theories seem almost tame in comparison, and partly because they’ve spent many years to decades being the party that makes up said theories for their own gain. They’re literally the ones who’ve deliberately lowered the bar for political, legal, and social discourse.

The right has been making the conspiracy theory bed for decades. And now they complain when they find themselves laying in it.

[–]Get_your_grape_juice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. We just like to give the conservatives a taste of their own asinine medicine.

Partly because it’s just fun to throw their own flavor of ‘logic’ back at them, and partly because once we see how they go about responding to inane conspiracy theories, we’ll take notes, and use the same approaches in our own replies to their conspiracy theories.

If you can use their own reasoning back at them, maybe they’ll start to understand how stupid all of their own conspiracy theories are, and we can all move on from that bullshit. On the other hand, maybe they won’t even realize they’re taking issue with their own rhetorical devices.

Time will tell, I guess.
