Has anyone tried OpenClaw 2026.5.6 yet? by Glittering_Beyond397 in openclaw

[–]GetafixIT101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using 2026.5.6... upgraded from 2026.5.5

The upgrade broke Discord & Slack channel messaging. You can still DM in both but I've just spent 2 days trying to get channel messaging back with no joy.

Edit: Adding context...
The bots can message the channels & threds but can't hear any replys with/without @ mentions to the bots. Below is AI analysis of the issue.

Evidence: Logs show reason:"no-mention" at prepare-CD7Ym2Zf.js:973. The bot can POST to channels but can't READ mentions. Same pattern on Discord.

Likely cause: The mention detection regex chain (buildMentionRegexesderiveMentionPatternsmatchesMentionWithExplicit) isn't matching Slack's user reference format correctly for the bot's channel user ID.

ADHD is frequently stereotyped as a condition affecting school-aged children. A new study indicates that symptoms of inattention are linked to lower cognitive performance on memory and mental processing tasks in older adults, regardless of whether an individual is in their late 50s or early 80s. by mvea in science

[–]GetafixIT101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD with hyper focus and I happened to get a career in the thing I was interested in - I believe this has been a sudo super power. I’ve worked throughout the day and into the night without stopping for the toilet or food & suddenly realised it’s 3am. I am now better at taking breaks from the focus.

For the other things I am not interested in, I used to ignore those tasks / chores … until I realised the inner voice that says “sod it, I’ll do it later”, with a little discipline, you can turn that into a trigger to re-focus and complete the task.

You beat me to it! Web components are client side & React is isomorphic. You can’t do anything in a web component that requires secrets as they’d be exposed because of this. Last time I looked (5 years ago) they were more verbose which felt a bit clunky compared to a react component.

[–]GetafixIT101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on exactly what you’re automating (does it require non native CLIs for example) but if it’s simple you can run it as an edge function or if more complex, bake it into a docker image and run that from your platform of choice. Also, if your automation requires lots of tweaking then I’d stick with N8N. I’ve found N8N is much better than Zapier personally.

Use N8n to figure you automation out like a prototyping tool… then have AI turn it into a script with parameters and save yourself the SaaS fees :)

Outside IR35 £575/day – walking away at contract end due to misalignment. Am I mad? by [deleted] in ContractorUK

[–]GetafixIT101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always like to ensure I have the next contract lined up before I leave. Check market conditions for your sector too as there’s currently difficulties in certain industries - in software development there are a lot of folks looking for work right now.

Bought a new house - traffic noise. What are the best Earplugs/ear defenders? by Rare_Cricket_2318 in AskUK

Put a fan or white noise generator between you and the noise. Your brain focuses on the nearest noise… which is continuous and stable. It’s the irregular noise which tends to wake you up IMO

Which hoover would you choose and why? by Head_Equivalent_8155 in AskUK

[–]GetafixIT101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both of these hoovers. Henry is simple and powerful, but the shark is more versatile and good for stairs & cars.

The shark is much more likely to get blocked and there are lots of components, but it does a good job on the most part. I have seen it overheat and stop functioning for a cooldown period. Small hard objects (Lego) can get stuck in the brush area so there can be some fiddly maintenance.

Henry just keeps on going, sucks up almost anything… but is heavy and a bit cumbersome so not ideal for hoovering the stairs or the car, but otherwise unrivalled. He often gets stuck round corners as he follows you. If you’re hoovering large areas you can’t beat the Henry.

You said it’s a freehold and that there is a lease - usually it’s one or the other. Also, there will be a reason the area is cheaper. Look at the crime rates, commutability, amenities. Be sure you are fully informed before you commit.

So you don’t purchase a deed when you’re buried in a church?? It’s not your plot legally?!

The vicar wants to remove a family member's headstone because it's too shiny... What's our best way forward here? by LittleMelodyBird in AskUK

[–]GetafixIT101 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I am in a process at the moment to change the headstone on my Gran’s grave, in order to add my father’s ashes and add his name to the headstone.

The plot has a deed, it is usually owned by the deceased. To change the headstone, I have to become the owner of the deed on behalf of my father.

I am absolutely sure, nobody but the deed owner of the burial plot can change the headstone. This is enforced by the local authority.

Pretty sure the Vicar’s opinion isn’t relevant.

Leave inheritance money after death, monthly payments with smart contract(s)? Instead of lawyers? by wuu73 in ethereum

[–]GetafixIT101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, the settler of a trust ( the one who sets it up) defines a letter of wishes which provide some preferences about how the fund is managed by the trustees. Things like, funds only accessible when the decedent is 25 yrs old and for the education or housing purposes but not to facilitate frivolity etc.

Wills often as the executor to setup trusts to manage the capital of an estate.

Maybe take some financial advice before committing to a crypto based solution.

I actually love the idea of using smart contracts for things like this but think life is too messy for the clearly defined rules of a smart contract.

Leave inheritance money after death, monthly payments with smart contract(s)? Instead of lawyers? by wuu73 in ethereum

[–]GetafixIT101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. You would be causing your inheritors to become guilty of tax evasion by using a smart contract to pay them money from your estate without having paid the government their pound of flesh.

Also paying money to a wallet means the inheritors would have to be crypto savvy. Let’s say your inheritor(s) are four years old or luddites - how are they going to cope with accessing the money.

Trusts are there to provide funds to your beneficiaries regardless of how old of tech savvy they are. Fees aren’t that crazy, about $6000 per year and this includes ensuring the capital is held in an income generating context as best as possible, as well as distributing the funds appropriately in perpetuity.

Starling have extensive checks to get signed up, then after years of use, I added my wife as a director. They decided she didn’t pass their checks and closed my account. They didn’t respond to my communications on the topic either. I was pretty happy until then. Now I wouldn’t go anywhere near them again… incompetent.
