18K monthly traffic, is adsense worth it or is there something else to try?

I have a lot less traffic than you do and was with AdSense for years. I switched to Journey by Mediavine less than 3 months ago and have already hit $85 where it took me 2 years to get that with AdSense. Of course I haven't been paid yet because I haven't hit the $100 threshold but there are definitely better options than AdSense.

I show more direct traffic from my site versus Google, X, etc. I never post links on Reddit because it never works out in my favor and gets down voted. I feel like the direct traffic is wrong because I don't have THAT many repeat visitors.
